What’s up With Cats and Chairs – Can we Talk?

by Deb at 4:50 AM • Cat Humor31 Comments

cats-and-chairsIn the indelible words of the late Joan Rivers, “Can we talk?” I ask this because the other day I shared a picture of Kizmet sitting in my office chair after he stole it from me when I got up for a brief second to get a glass of water. I marveled at not only how quickly the act had transpired, but also at how quickly he fell soundly asleep considering I was literally only gone a minute at best. Read more

Happy 9th Birthday to our Virgo Cat, Zee!

by Deb at 4:50 AM • Uncategorized36 Comments

Zee-9-BDWhat!!! Much as I want time to stand still, another year has passed and it is already time again to say Happy Birthday to our sweet Zee, who turns 9 today! Sigh…That’s right – Zee was born on September 7th which makes him a Virgo and he certainly fits the bill for the tendencies of his astrological sign –  a delightfully fussy and fastidious feline who needs routine and order in his life, and as long as he has it, then he is as happy and content as can be.

Wordless Wednesday – The Symmetrical Mirror Images of Multi-Cats

While it was very nice to have a three-day weekend, the past several days have been emotionally tiring for me so I am quite happy to have a Wordless Wednesday upon us to share LOTS of great kitty pictures without having to worry about writing too may words! I was browsing through some of my pictures for inspiration and noticed a theme that fascinated me that I thought I would share – the symmetrical artistry that can sometimes happen as a result of having multi-cats hanging out together and the stunning mirror images they provide. These are some of my favorite archive examples and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Happy Wednesday all and have a great day! Read more

Mother’s Day Wishes From the Zee and Zoey Gang!

Happy Mother’s Day and please click image to enlarge!

Holidays bring up different feelings and emotions in all of us and this is particularly true for Mother’s Day. For some of us, we are remembering a Mom who has since passed away and the day brings with it bittersweet memories. Some of us will be celebrating the day in person with their mother like I will and some will be celebrating with their mom’s, but not necessarily in the traditional sense.

To me, a mother is a state of mind and she can even be a he. A mother represents a certain love and responsibility towards a being and that can span across races, species, and sexes. Not all mom’s are beloved and some are. Some mom’s come in the form of a sister or an aunt and some mom’s can be a dad. To me, Mother’s Day is the celebration of that special someone in your life that you think of as “Mom.”

I am happy to say that not only am I daughter to a wonderful mom, but I am mom to my two fabulous sons, Chris and Joey, and my wonderful step-children – Crystal, Michael, and Jackie. I also consider myself mom to my beloved feline gang and I am also blessed to witness the relationship Zoey shares as mom to the three of her four children that live with us – Mia, Peanut, and Rolz. But perhaps more incredibly is the role she has assumed as mom to adopted cats Kizmet and Jazmine. I am in awe of her compassion and so in that spirit, all of us at Zee and Zoey’s wish you and yours a wonderful Mother’s Day. May it bring with it a day of peace, happiness, and reconciliation.

Jazmine and Kizmet – A Young Love Story of Two Old Souls

ZZ-cover-04-lowresMost of you that follow my blog know that it was started as a direct result of my writing The Chronicles of Zee & Zoey – A Journey of the Extraordinarily Ordinary, a book about the tumultuous love story of Zee and Zoey. While my writing the book was not initially planned, getting Zee and Zoey very much was. Both cats came from stable homes and I knew their background and history from the minute they were born. Zee was given as a gift from me to Dan and a couple of years after that, we got Zoey because the timing was right.  Zee was going through a very naughty stage in his life and was misdirecting his excessive energy with Mr. Jazz who was with us at the time, as well as with Harley – neither of whom appreciated it. I had always wanted a Bengal kitten and because they were known for being extremely playful and athletic, it seemed the perfect match and solution.  Read more
