Happy 6th Birthday to my Sweet Zoey!

Well, in the blink of an eye, another year has gone by and my sweet Zoey is celebrating yet another birthday that seemed to come out of nowhere… It seemed like just yesterday my girl was a wee kitten that fit into the palm of my hand, yet here she is, all grown up… She is as young and beautiful as ever, but can’t time just slow down for a minute? Even though in the scheme of things, 6 is not really that old in cat years, time is still going by far too quickly for me!

But now is not the time for feeling melancholy – it is a time for celebration, so please join me in wishing my Diva, Queen Bee a Happy 6th Birthday! Bow to her grace and beauty and please feel free to shower her with gifts, treats, catnip, compliments, and lots and lots of money and jewelry!

Happy Birthday Zoey!!

Love, purrs, snuggles, and wishes for warm sun puddles and uninterrupted naps  from Mom, Dad, Zee, Mia, Peanut, Rolz, Harley, Kizmet, Jazmine, and Mr. Jazz from the Bridge!

On another note – Congratulations to Mindy who is the winner of our whiskerslist/Texts From Mittens giveaway contest from last Wednesday’s interview with author, blogger, and humorist, Angie Bailey! Thanks for entering the contest and hope you enjoy the book and autographed postcard!

Wordless Wednesday – A Cat’s Little Sunlight Secret

I love this photo of Zoey because it implies so much, while saying so little. Every afternoon the sun will start its slow ascent to setting and its rays will permeate through the dining room window, just beckoning a cat to come sit for a spell in that delicious sliver of sunlight. Zoey knows the precise moment this will happen and comes out from wherever she was previously napping to partake in this decadent treat and you can visually see her basking in the glorious warmth of the moment.

While she is sunning herself, she is certain that the sun sliver was created just for her, a wondrous secret for a cat of impeccable standing and grace. In actuality, anyone who happens by can see her, but because she is standing behind the cloak of heavy drapery panels, she is certain she is far hidden from the world and that this sunny treasure is exclusively hers.

Being that I love her so dearly, I gladly give her that impression and until the sun shifts away to find another cat to bestow its magic upon, the moment is hers and hers alone.

Happy Wordless Wednesday and may you all find that secret, magic sun sliver moment in your day as well!

“Hey Buddy”, says Peanut to Kizmet. “You looking for a fight around here?”

Somebody left a comment the other day on a post I did featuring a very serene picture of Zee, asking me if my darling family of eight cats fight with each other. To which I say, the better question to ask would be, “Do pigs fly?” Read more

Happy 5th Birthday to My Sweet Zoey!

Zoey-BD-2013-2-002

Today is a day of CELEBRATION as our sweet Zoey turns 5 years old!!!! Wow – time just flies and I can’t believe this little being that fit in the palm of my hands when I first got her in 2008 is now such a beautiful and graceful fully grown cat. Zoey has always amazed me with her intelligence and unique personality as she has grown, but this year she really showed me just how extraordinary she truly is with the addition of Kizmet to our family.

Zoey has the distinct honor of having 3 of her 4 kittens living with her and the loving mother-child relationship that they share is nothing less than amazing. When we got Kizmet, I worried how the perfectly balanced social dynamic in our house would be affected and I didn’t know how Zoey would react towards him. Well, her reaction was one of a warm, loving, and compassionate mother who had found her long lost son. She took Kizmet under her wings and instantly assumed the role of mother, which Kizmet desperately craved.

So, Happy Birthday my darling Zoey – you continue to amaze me and I love you so much!! I look forward to many more years together and promise you a day of extra loving, toys, and treats!!

Love also from the rest of the family who love you so much too – Human Dad, Jazz, Harley, Zee, Mia, Peanut, Rolz, and Kizmet.

I am very blessed to have a man in my life that I love more with each passing day. Dan and I became a couple many years ago at a point in our lives when our children were practically adults themselves and while we would have loved having a child of our own, that was just not meant to be. We cherish the relationship our collective family shares – we all get along great and I consider Dan’s kids mine, and vice versa.

When Dan moved in with me, as a special gift, I got him a kitten – the infamous Zee – and a short while after that, as a gift to myself, I got my beloved Zoey. Well, just like Dan and I fell head over heels in love with one another, so did Zee and Zoey. The only difference, they did have children together and that’s how this new path I have embarked upon as an author, blogger, and cat advocate all began. Read more
