Doppelganger Sunday Selfie – Jazmine as Dewey the Library Cat!

It’s National Reading Month, so for Sunday Selfie, I thought this picture of Jazmine from 2014 was absolutely purrfect to share! She’s napping next to one of my favorite books, Dewey the Small Town Library Cat Who Touched the World, looking like she’s Dewey himself, only to grace the cover of her own book, Makin’ Biscuits – Weird Cat Habits and the Even Weirder Habits of the Humans Who Love Them, a scant few years later!!

Happy Sunday everyone – who’s your doppelganger cat? Oh, and if you’re looking for a great read for March, yes, Dewey is a great book, but Y’all,  so is Jazmine’s book –  it won three awards from the Cat Writers’ Association 2016 communications contest! Check it out here on Amazon!

Cat Count Camouflage – Hiding in Plain Sight!

Glasses, check. Phone, check. Lunch, check. Purse, check. Keys, check. One, two, three, four, five, six. Six. Six. And then it begins. The mad rush in which I gain an inordinately high number of Fitbit steps first thing in the morning before I leave for work as I look for whichever cat of mine, in my “cat-count-before-I-go-to-work” ritual is missing because I have seven cats, not six. The Cats and the Christmas Box

A gift for us? I’ll take care of it…

When a box comes into the house it’s a BIG deal. After all, when you’re a cat, it’s rule number one to either sit on, in, or near it. For this particular box, addressed to the cats mind you, Rolz took it upon himself to claim ownership and took the role VERY seriously.

Still guarding it (with a little help from Jazmine).

Fine…you can guard it now, but just for a minute…

Sometimes a cat might have to get up for one reason or another, perhaps to use the litter box, thank you very much, and sure enough, there will be another cat at the ready, in this case, Kizmet.

Alright! Enough Mr. Nice Guy! Get off my box, now!

Being a rather patient cat by nature, Rolz allowed Kizmet his box-sitting moment, but even a patient cat has his limits…

Oh look, it’s a bunch of stuff for us to sniff!

When that exciting moment finally arrives, the one in which the box is ceremoniously opened, the cats do their obligatory sniffing and poking around. But it quickly dawns on them they no longer have a box to sit on and life goes back to normal…

Well, since we no longer have a box to sit on, might as well go back to bed…

Happy Sunday everyone!

Understanding the Mystery of Why Cats Don’t Like Us to Close the Bathroom Door

Close the door? How dare you!

Bathrooms are meant to be that one scared and intimate place in our home where we can shut the door and retreat from the world to our own blessed sanctuary of aloneness and privacy. Unless you have cats, of course. There is literally nothing that will make a cat magically appear from thin air to break that privacy code than a closed bathroom door. You’ll hear that mournful, repeated, and frantic “Meeoooooooooowww” in tangent with a paw, paw, paw, dig, dig, dig under the door and a scratch, scratch, scratch on the door.

“Where are you? When are you coming out? What are you doing in there without me?” Read more

Happy 5th Birthday to Sweet Jazmine!

Happy Birthday sweet Jazmine!

Unbelievable, that cute little pipsqueak that Dan and I fell head over heels in love with when we first saw her up for adoption at the Global Pet Expo in March of 2014 and subsequently adopted (how could we not?) is 5 years old today! How is that possible? It seems like just yesterday she was a tiny, puff of diva fur ruling the household. Now, here she is, a giant puff of diva fur, ruling the household!

My beautiful bundle of ginger fur! She really is one cool cat!

Anyhow, Happy Birthday to my dear, precious Jazmine. I wish I had the time to do a long post in your honor, but it’s just not in the cards for me right now. But I can promise you that you’ll be spoiled even more than you already are. I love you and cherish every second of love, laughter, and sunshine you bring into my heart and the hearts of others.
