Ahh… summer… glorious, endless days of sun beams for a cat to delight in! What a better quote than this one by William Lyon Phelps to suit Rolz as his body just appears to melt on the floor as if one with the sun! As I always say, even for one brief hour, how wonderful would it be to be a cat to experience such pure and uncluttered bliss!

William Lyon Phelps (1865  –  1943) was an American author, critic and scholar who taught the first American university course on the modern novel. He was also a well-known public speaker, had a radio show, wrote a daily syndicated newspaper column, lectured frequently, and published numerous popular books and articles. (wikipedia)

First of all – thank you so much for all the awesome birthday wishes for Kizmet that you left for him on the 4th of July! He was completely overwhelmed by your kindness and wishes he had thumbs so he could personally send you all a thank you note. Since that is not the case, not to mention that he has a limited attention span and would forget to write them to begin with, please accept his humble thanks via me, his human slave. Read more

Sometimes the moon and the stars align just right and synchronicity becomes the theme of life as in the case with our little Kizmet. Kizmet, that quirk of fate kitten that I instantly fell in love with when I went to Pet Supermarket on a Monday afternoon during my lunch break at my day job to buy some cat food. Why is this significant? Because normally I do my pet food shopping on the weekends in the Pet Supermarket that is near my house, but for whatever reason, I felt compelled to go on a week day and to the location near where I worked. The moment I walked into the store and our eyes locked, I knew he was destined to be a part of our family and thus the name Kizmet, as in fate, but with the “z” that is a predominant trait in our Zee/Zoey household.

The other reason for the synchronicity – apparently our little guy who was found abandoned on the streets before he was rescued was born on the 4th of July and if any cat is the definition of a live wire, firecracker, it is our Kizmet! So, please join us today in a double celebration as we say Happy 1st Birthday to Kizmet and Happy 237th Birthday to America!!!! Whoo Hoo!!! Read more

Eliminate Pet Odors With CritterZone – Product Review and Discount Offer for Zee & Zoey Readers

Much as we love our feline friends, it’s not always easy to have a home with that “fresh as a daisy” smell when we have to contend with litter box and other related odors.

Being that I have had cats all of my 52 years of life, I think it is fair to say that I have had my share of experiences when it comes to dealing with cat odor issues. From your basic odors associated with litter boxes to full blown urine and spraying disasters that have resulted in permanently damaged furniture, rugs, carpets, and more, I have seen it all. I have also tried every trick in the book from homemade remedies of vinegar and baking soda to remove urine odors to spending hundreds of dollars buying just about every “miracle” odor remover product on the market there was, that more times than not, did nothing more than cause the cats to pee to remark the territory all over again. Outtake Caturday – The Upside Down, Topsy Turvy of Life!

She was awoken out of a restful sleep, as she was every morning, to the pleasant buzz of her alarm gently telling her it was time to jump of bed, rejuvenated and refreshed, with the prospect of a brand new day filled with endless possibilities ahead. Today, however, a low rumble of thunder greeted her as her feet hit the floor and as she ambled to the bathroom, the bedroom shook slightly from the wrath of the impending storm. That’s how a writer would describe last Wednesday morning, creating a mood and sense of foreboding to the reader that something ominous was on the horizon to otherwise happy and normal circumstances. Were this scene to be translated to the big screen, audience members would be screaming, “Watch out person!” “Get back in bed, something bad is going to happen!” Read more
