“Hi Everybody,” says Jazmine. “Welcome to my world!”

As you know from last Saturday’s post, we brought Jazmine home from the Global Pet Expo with the intention of keeping her in sequester in the guest room for at least a week or two before she would be introduced to the rest of the feline gang. Kizmet, of course, barged into her room within the first hour of her stay and changed our plans significantly. As mentioned, the instant he met her, he employed himself her indentured guardian and literally would not let Dan or I walk into her room without following us in. When we would physically remove him from the room and close the door, he just figured out how to open it on his own and would go back in, lest he not be by her side for a single second. Read more

For those of you that frequent my blog, you know I have an affinity for not only cats and writing, but for design and creativity. I love to find the beauty in everyday things and the very premise of the Zee/Zoey brand started with the tagline of their book – finding the extraordinary in the ordinary. As you can well imagine then, when I happened up an article in the Laughing Squid entitled “California Man With 18 Cats Remodels His Home Into An Amazing Feline Playground Paradise,” I had to find this man to learn more about this feline oasis, because well, because he has 18 cats (all of them rescues) and turned his house into an amazing feline playground paradise for them. Let’s be honest people, he had me at the headline… Read more

Jazmine’s First Days… Kitty Knows Best…

Editor’s Note – By now you most of you have heard Dan and I have adopted a new kitten – a beautiful Maine Coon Ginger Princess we named Jazmine that we happened upon while visiting the Imperial Cat booth at the Global Pet Expo. She has already been living with us for a full week but due to a variety of reasons such as travel lag, a day job, a raging migraine that lingered for days, and losing email service for two days, I am severely behind in my blogging schedule. So, rather than jump right into the here and now with her, let’s rewind a bit to last Friday, the last day of the expo, as we ease into her story… Read more

Global Pet Expo 2014 – Happy Endings and New Beginnings

logo-gpeI have to admit I was not sure I would be going to the Global Pet Expo in Orlando until the last minute. Even once the decision was made, Dan and I questioned the purpose of it – what did I expect to gain from going? Besides the obvious – making new connections, learning about new and innovative cat products, and catching up with friends, I wasn’t sure. I have never gone to a pet expo before and truly didn’t know if it would be a good venue for me to be at.

As with life, I have learned many times there is a greater purpose to our being, we just don’t know it at the time and you have to let it all unfold on its own. Seeing Mr. Jazz in spirit form in the doorway of my office last week, my draw to feral cat advocacy, and my ultimately deciding to go to the expo, but this time with Dan rather than on my own… there was to be a significant connection to it all.
