Happy 8th Birthday to Jazmine!

Happy 8th birthday to our lovely, funny, sweet, spoiled, sometimes naughty, and completely cherished, Jazmine! We love you so much and thank you for brightening our days with your gigantic heart and personality!

Well, it only took 365 days to get here, but what’s probably the most important day of the year is finally here. What? Oh, sorry, I stand corrected. Jazmine has informed me it is the most important day of the year – Ginger Cat Appreciation Day – and she’s also informed me every day should be Ginger Cat Appreciation Day.

Honestly, I can’t say that I disagree. Just look at the face…what’s not to love every day of the year? I’m so in love as a matter of fact that my next book project is about ginger cats. So, let’s see some ginger cat love today. How many of you have, or had a ginger cat? What were their names? Did they have any funny habits or do you have a favorite memory? Then and now. Our Jazmine has matured into such a beautiful adult cat.

Seven years. Our precious, beautiful, and loving ginger baby, Jazmine, is seven years old today. When Dan and I first came upon her at Global Pet Expo in March of 2014 at the Imperial Cat booth as a rescue kitten up for adoption, there was an initial internal struggle of “do we,” or “don’t we,” despite her melting our hearts instantly upon looking at her sweet face. It wasn’t so much because we didn’t want to, it was more a matter of me specifically. We had recently lost our beloved Ragdoll, Jazz, in 2013 and I didn’t know if I was mentally ready for another cat in my life or acclimating it to our seven other residing cats in an already fragile cat dynamic, no matter how ridiculously adorable this kitten was. Shadow has officially been with us for one month!

So, our little black cat, the one who showed up unexpectedly at our house the morning of November 8^th has been with us officially one month, today. We named him Shadow, a name perfectly suited for him, as he tends to lurk in the shadows of our house, blending into our counters, furniture, and more. He also likes to shadow the other cats, trying to make friends as only an energetic 6-month-old young cat will do, which they don’t find quite as endearing as I do. Especially Jazmine. Read more
