Happy 11th Birthday to Kizmet, and Happy 4th of July to America!

Yes, I know it’s a lot of red, white, and blue. And a lot of bells, whistles, balloons, and hoopla fit into a tiny graphic image. If I were to be graded for this design in school, I’d probably get a D-, with the constructive comment, “Sometimes less, is more.” But, come on. Not only is it the 4th of July – America’s 247th birthday – but it’s our sweet Kizmet’s 11th birthday!

Too much glam and glitz? I say not enough! LOL. Anyhow, Happy birthday to Kizmet, our precious, sweet boy who has filled our lives with love and laughter since we adopted him from Pet Supermarket as a tiny kitten, back in November of 2012. We love you so much, buddy, and wish for many more years together!

All kidding and celebration aside, the 4th of July can be a rough, scary, and dangerous time for our feline friends. Please visit here for my previous post on how to keep our cats safe and secure during the 4th of July festivities as well as the hot, summer days.

Beginner’s Guide to Caring for An Abandoned Neonatal Kitten

My lap on any typical evening.

It was around 8:00 p.m., and Dan and I were finally settled on the couch for the evening. I think I had at least two cats sleeping on me and Dan one or two. Dan’s phone rang – it was a co-worker. He had found an abandoned neonatal kitten (neonatal is a kitten defined as newborn to four weeks old) at the facility where they work, outside in the rain, and he needed help. The mother cat was nowhere to be found, nor were there littermates. It was clear if he didn’t intervene, the kitten would not survive. Read more

Standing Room Only? For My Cats, It’s Lying Room Only

This photo from 2020 sums me up. Anywhere I am, there will be a cat, or two, or three…

My cats, no matter what point in the journey of my life, have always been bonded to me. Some more than others, ranging from degrees of “Yes, please make sure to pat me when you walk by, but then go your merry way,” to “Oh my God, no! Please don’t ever let me out of your sight, my life as I know it will be over if I don’t know where you are at all times!” In early March of this year, that dynamic shifted, with nearly all of my current gang of seven consumed with the need to be near me. Happy 15th Birthday Zoey and Cat Safety Tips for Easter

It’s happened again. Time has passed at a crazy pace, and in what seems like seconds later, my precious Zoey is now 15 years old. It’s been an interesting year with my girl since her birthday last year, as it marks the first time sharing the day without her true love, Zee, our sweet boy we had to say goodbye to on March 18, 2022. They had a unique bond – not only did they share a home with a family they created, but they were snuggle buddies and nearly inseparable. Read more

The Missing You, One Year Anniversary of Saying Goodbye to Zee

It’s nearly impossible to believe our precious Zee has been gone a full year. He brought so much love, light, and joy to our lives and the hole in our hearts remains deep. Since I was blessed that he didn’t mind being snuggled or held, I’ve created a collage of some of my favorite pictures with him to honor his passing.

Goodbye sweet Zee, forever and always in my heart.

Zee: September 7, 2005 – March 18, 2022.
