November 1, 2010 – Zee/Zoey Logo Design Unveiled

The ink wasn’t even dry yet and I already had myself as a guest on the Ellen Show and a high-visibility table in Barnes and Noble displaying my best selling book with matching Zee and Zoey plush animals! Whoa… Slow down girl! What actually happened next is a bit more technical – I registered ZeeZoey Partners (ZZP) with the state of Florida as a Limited Liability Corporation and contacted my friend and graphic designer, Madalina, to help me come up with a logo concept for ZeeZoey Partners – no point in moving forward with a book, if I did not have a professional image.

I literally poured through thousands of images of cats, leopards, leopard prints, Bengals, Maine Coons – basically anything and everything related to the feline world to help inspire me as to what I felt the image I wanted would look like. I made copies of clip art, did rough Photoshop layouts, and badly drew many pencil sketches to bring to Madalina to help her understand what I wanted – I gave her carte blanche to use her imagination and creativity, she did not necessarily have to find inspiration out of what I gave her, but I knew I wanted the logo to portray the love Zee and Zoey had for one another, as well as to showcase each cat individually as a specific breed. Despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary – pictures of Zee and Zoey splashed everywhere ad nauseam – the name of the blog, “Zee & Zoey’s Chronicle Connection,” the title of the book, “The Chronicles of Zee & Zoey – a Journey of the Extraordinarily Ordinary,” Zee and Zoey’s facebook page and facebook fan page, the Zee and Zoey twitter account, the ZeeZoey Partners LLC LinkedIn account, the ZeeZoey Partners LLC I set up, as well as the ZeeZoey Partners corporate logo and monogram that was exclusively designed for them and the ZeeZoey blog photo shoot, the idea for the book and the entire Zee/Zoey concept did not actually begin with Zee and Zoey. What?! How can that be? Read more

Putting Pen to Paper – the Process of the Process

Me, crocheting on the couch – the kittens are approximately 6 months old – Mia stretched on my legs, Peanut snuggled by my knee, and Rolz sleeping by my hip

Although I’ve always enjoyed writing – you know – I was always the wacko who enjoyed essay questions instead of multiple choice, actually liked to research and write term papers, and have been the inherent “go to” girl when that perfect business letter or proposal had to be written at the office, I never really thought I would write a book. Dream about writing a book… sure, in that regard I’ve written dozens of Best Sellers. But to actually go from sentence one to twenty-six chapters later and write a book… wow… that would seem all but impossible.

Heat Cat 5 – Anything but Ordinary…

Although this blog is barely a month old, the one thing I have quickly learned is to be flexible. I try to be organized and schedule my posts ahead of time in a somewhat logical manner. As I mentioned, I want to get us back on track and start talking about how the book, “The Chronicles of Zee & Zoey – a Journey of the Extraordinarily Ordinary”was created. But, because a blog by nature is interactive, I am constantly being presented with amazing comments and feedback from my readers, many of them complete strangers that have reached out to me with such wonderful stories that need to be shared, causing me the need to re-adjust my game plan!
