Deb’s Cat Stamp of Approval – April Edition

As time moves on in the kitty blogosphere, I continue to meet so many great human and feline friends. I had no idea how literate the cat population was until I became a blogger myself – it seems that thousands and thousands of cats have taken to the social world – some with twitter accounts, some with facebook pages, some with blogs, and many with all of the above. I am not sure if perhaps there is a subliminal plot by them to overtake the universe, but one thing is for sure – each cat is wonderfully unique and each cat  is worthy of our attention. That brings me to my “Cat-Stamps of Approval” for the month of April (hey, I still have a few days left before it is officially May). Read more

A Day in the Life of Callie the Calico

As some of you may or may not know, Callie the Calico is our resident neighborhood cat that has decided our house is her second home. When we first met her many months ago, she was primarily a pretty blur in the background of our side or back yard and was extremely timid and shy. Well, as you can see from this picture, Callie has relaxed significantly and has now claimed our house as hers, as she quite nonchalantly stretches her body for some morning sun on the walkway to our front door. She is very calm and content and all would appear well. What you don’t realize, is inside our house, all hell has broken lose as chaos and bedlam reigns. All seven of our cats – that would be fourteen front paws – are collectively scratching at the window glass, OVER AND OVER, franticly trying to dig a tunnel to outside to get at her. Callie is a brilliant mastermind as she deliberately taunts them each and every morning, knowing full well they cannot get to her, before she moves on to phase two of her day. The side yard. Wordless Wednesday… Coping with the Pressures of Life as a Feline

Zoey as a kitten on the couch with Harley... the stress level is palpable

Calling all Kitties – Photo Opportunity!!

This sweet little Ragdoll named "Girlfriend" was just adopted from the Humane Society of Broward County!!

Since we started this blog last October, we’ve met so many great new feline, human, and yes, even canine friends. Some of you who are recently new to the site, might not be aware that we have a special photo album called “Other People’s Cats” in our “Photos” tab where we post pictures of your cats that you have sent us. I’ll admit that Zee and Zoey are not really fond of this feature, as it takes the limelight away from them. But I really enjoy it and just wanted to let everyone know that if you want to send a picture of your cat for me to post, just email me at info@zeezoey.com  with a jpeg image, along with your cat’s name and breed. Breaking News… Peace Restored as TICA Announces Top Five Registered Cat Breeds in the World

The Reigning Queen and World Champion - our Wildly Inspired Miss Zoey

Nothing against Persians or The Cat Fanciers Association (CFA). Honest. Persians are a gorgeous breed of cats and the CFA is quite a refutable and wonderful organization.

However, several weeks ago when they announced their Top Five List of Registered Cats for 2010, all heck broke lose in our house as Zoey threw a HUGE kitty fit, because not only was the Bengal NOT the number one registered breed, they didn’t even make the top 5 list. Hmmpff. The world literally spun off its axis and pigs began to fly.

Well, thanks to The International Cat Association (TICA), peace is blessedly restored in our household and the earth can continue to revolve around its axis without further disruption. They have just released their 2010 list of the Top Five Registered Cats in the world (thank you Catster) and the Bengal has made top billing as THE NUMBER ONE REGISTERED BREED! Please, so there is no confusion, let me say it again, the Bengal is the NUMBER ONE REGISTERED BREED around the world! So, take that, all of you beautiful, gorgeous, and delightfully personable Persians!

Number two on the list is none other than the Ragdoll (number 4 on the CFA list), and number three, the lovable Maine Coon (number 2 on the CFA list), of which Mr. Jazz and Zee thank the TICA for respectively. Number four is the Savannah and number five is the Sphynx, which was also the number five cat on the CFA list. Now, for me, I love ALL cats and think they all have unique beauty, traits, and personalities that would entitle each and every one of them to be number one on the list. But, for those of us who have had to live with Zoey the past few weeks with all her sour grapes and pouting, we emit a heavy sigh of relief as once again, Queen Zoey reigns and she may rule the law of the land with her beautiful and dainty leopard spotted paws.
