I say “Meow, Meow,” because despite that I will be gone the next few days attending the BARKWORLD Conference in Atlanta, there will be plenty of us cat people representing the felines in fine form as we learn about new products, blogging, and other great marketing and informative tools to make the world better for pets and animals!! My Book Review of “Purrs of Wisdom – Conscious Living, Feline Style” by Ingrid King

Some books are read with on edge anticipation, such as a murder mystery, some are read at stolen moments before you go to bed, such as a romance novel, and some are meant to be read to cleanse the soul and rejuvenate the human spirit. That would be the case of Purrs of Wisdom – Conscious Living, Feline Style by award winning author, Ingrid King.

A collection of heartfelt and earnest essays based on her popular “Conscious Cat Sunday” column on The Conscious Cat blog, each essay will strike a unique and personal chord with readers as King offers her “purrs of wisdom” to us harried and over-achieving humans in the form of lessons learned from her feline teachers – both past and present, who have perfected the art of living life without undue stress, anxiety, and guilt. A Surreal Moment in Time – My Review of Julie Newmar’s “The Conscious Catwoman Explains Life on Earth,” Giveaway, and Q & A

I find myself reflecting quietly in my own Catwoman style as Julie Newmar brings my life full circle.

Editors Note: The giveaway for this post is now closed.

Without belaboring the point, my dad was an alcoholic and definitely not a good father to my younger brother and I. He and my mom divorced when I was about 10 years old and we had an intermittent relationship throughout my adult life until one day, approximately 10 years ago, he made the conscious decision to vanish from our lives and has not been seen or heard from since.

Granted, the path to my own self-worth was a long and often difficult journey, but I happen to like who I am now and I have come to learn to look for the silver lining moments in life when the road becomes a rocky one. With my father, finding those moments were few and far between, but one cherished memory that remains dear to my heart were the brief times I would come home from school and watch TV with him. This video of Zoey was taken a few years ago when she was just a youngster, but the premise is purr-fect for Friday!! She is saying, “Put down the camera, stop working, and get ready to enjoy the weekend!!”

I couldn’t agree with her more – I am exhausted from a grueling week and am looking forward to a break from the corporate world that I work in so that I can spend the weekend working on stuff I enjoy – cat stuff!!

See you tomorrow – I have a great post that I am so excited to share – it involves a book review, a giveaway, and a very special Q & A with someone who I have been a fan of since I was a little girl!!

October 16 – National Feral Cat Day: Making Sense of it All

I wish for a day that every cat had a safe and loving home and that the streets and shelters were not overpopulated with literally millions of cats. Sadly, not only is that dream a long way off,  but many people don’t share that same mindset and that is why today, National Feral Cat Day, is so important. Feral, or outdoor community cats as would be the proper term, are part of the fabric of society and until the world at large has a greater knowledge about these animals, the battle of escalating overpopulation, misconceptions, lack of respect, and mistreatment will continue to exist and my hopes will be nothing more than an elusive dream…  Read more
