Cat Product Holiday Review/Giveaway Series: Turbo Toys by Bergan Pet Products

I typically don’t do a lot of cat product reviews, but as a result of Zee & Zoey’s Cat Ruler Contest and Campaign for a Cause that I held in August/September, I had a handful of items sent to me from some of the prize sponsors for my own kitties to try out. Since I have a multi-cat household of felines who are certified cat testers (hereby decreed by me) and the holidays are coming up, I thought I would begin a weekly series of reviews/giveaways of some of these items to help those of you who are looking for great gift ideas for any cat on your shopping list.

Jazz has immediately claimed the Turbo Star Chaser Toy as his. Can't argue with such solid evidence of possession...

One of these great toys is the Turbo Star Chaser Toy from Bergan Pet Products. I can say without any exaggeration whatsoever that my cats went ga-ga bonkers over this interactive toy, but not just all the cats, in particular, our senior resident, Mr. Jazz. Jazz who is 14 years old was instantly attracted to this toy that is basically a plastic donut with a scratch pad in the center that is surrounded by a tubular track that has a motion activated LED ball in it that lights up when the cats touch it.

To see Jazz play with this toy with such delight and vigor does my heart good as well as his. Jazz prefers to spend most of his day napping in our bedroom. He will come out for dinner, do some couch snuggling when we watch TV at night, then he will be instantaneously stuck to me like Velcro when we go to bed. It’s not that he’s lazy, he is just getting older and has very little interest in the mountain of cat toys we have and prefers a wadded ball of paper to be his primary toy of choice. So, unless there is actually a wadded ball of paper on the floor, he is relatively sedentary.

Jazz is stretching his legs and giving the Star Chaser a good scratching!

The Turbo Cyclone changed all that – from the moment I unwrapped it from its packaging and sprinkled a bit of catnip on the scratch board, he became obsessed with batting the ball around and around. Sometimes he plays alone and I will hear the whirl of the ball going around the track, and sometimes the other cats will join him and then it sounds like a frentic game of Foosball as the ball is pawed from one cat to the next to keep it in motion.

Zoey and Zee engage in a competive game batting the LED ball around the turbo track!

It seems he is not the only senior cat who loves this toy. Socks from Alasandra, The Cats & A Dog  who was our grand prize winner of the Cat Ruler Contest and is 12 years old also received a turbo toy, in this case, the Cyclone model and loves it so much that he sleeps with it! Just look at these pictures he was kind enough to share and I think you will agree that the Turbo Cyclone gets a 5-paw ranking of approval from him!

This picture is just too precious for words... Socks loves his Cyclone so much that he can't bear to part with it, even when it is time to nap!

I obviously don’t know the science behind it and can’t guarantee all senior cats will love the toy as much as Jazz and Socks do, but I highly recommend you give it a try to see if you can bring some joy, exercise, and fun to your senior cat that might not be getting enough mental and physical stimulation as he/she ages.

The good news, Bergan has agreed to give one lucky reader a chance to win one of these great toys. All you need to do is leave a comment by Tuesday, November 13th, midnight PST and on Thursday the 15th  I will announce the winner. The only stipulation, you must be from the U.S. to be eligible. Truthfully however, I would recommend you get this toy regardless of the giveaway opportunity. It will make a great holiday gift for any cat, the prices are reasonable, falling in the twenty dollar range, and the ball comes complete with batteries and ready to go (replacement batteries are not sold separately, it is recommended you just buy another ball when it wears out). And keep in mind, it is not just for seniors – my cats range from 3 to 14 years old and they all love it. For more details on where you can find turbo products, please visit the Bergen site for information at this link.

Zee, Mia, Rolz, and Jazz are all enjoying the Star Chaser!

I was not paid for this product endorsement and the opinions of this toy are based on my own unique experience with my cats.

You are the second person to recommend this cat toy to me recently. Next time I get to town I need to check it town–unless I win one, of course! Love reading about your family.

  2. Lois Curcio says:

My kitties would just love this toy, Mario, Angel or Kensey. Especially, Angel, she is 5 and needs the exercise!

  3. We would love to win this toy. We like interactive toys and need them because Mom Paula is always worn out when she gets home and can’t play with us as much as we’d like.

  4. Cheryl says:

My black cat, Maya, loved a toy like this when she was a kitten, but lost interest as she got older. My other cat, Sam, is a big blob who doesn’t want to play with anything. If this gets your senior cats going, maybe one would be the answer to getting my big white blob of Samcat moving.

  5. Ms. Phoebe says:

I am 12 and Mom says I could sure use one of these to keep me active and young at heart! Mewmew!

  6. Samky says:

We had a similar toy when Emily & Meggie were kittens and they both loved it till they broke it. They are now 15 and have been joined by Belle who is 1 1/2. I bet they would love this toy all over again especially as it is new & improved from the old one.

  7. Nicole says:

These toys are terrific! We have a few at the rescue I volunteer with and all the kitties love them! I would love to win one for my own cats.

  8. We did a Bergan giveaway a while back and all our cats love it, but I’m impressed that your guys will play together! Our cats usually will play and the other observe or wait their turn.

  9. Pam says:

My cat loves this toy. He is pretty spoiled so gets about a new toy a week but always comes back to this one.
