Making the Grade – What Makes a Blog Post Successful?

Imperfect-bloggerWith Blog Paws only a couple of weeks away, it naturally got me to thinking of all things, blogging, which led me to the realization after self-analysis of the top basic rules to follow when creating a good blog post, that I was mediocre at best and needed to give myself the “Imperfect Blogger Award.” Or, if you prefer, “The Flawed Blogger Award,” or “The Blogger who Just Can’t Conform to the Golden Rules of Blogging Award,” or just simply, “The Bad Blogger Award.” Read more

A Happy Cat Tail for a Happy Wordless Wednesday!

Mia-tail

A cat’s tail speaks a language of it’s own and in this case, I would use the words plucky, confident, happy, and self-assured to describe what our little Mia with her tail held high and proud is projecting  as she enjoys one of those precious morning jaunts outside when we give the kitties a supervised break in our fenced in backyard. I love, love, love her message and I love this picture of her. Mia is perpetually a happy and content girl and her flagship tail is one of her most endearing trademarks. She is what a I would call a “puppy-dog-cat” and is prone to following Dan and I about the house, always with her tail at full attention as she enjoys being part of our comings and goings!

With eight cats, you can only imagine the amount of “tail conversations” that go on all day in night in our household, but this particular message happens to be my favorite one and seemed the perfect way to say “Happy Wordless Wednesday” – only a few more days until the weekend!

National Hairball Awareness Day – What is FURminator up to Now to Promote Good Health and Grooming?

National Hairball Awareness DayWow –it’s hard to believe a whole year has gone by and it’s National Hairball Awareness Day again. I’ve barely recovered from last year’s extravaganza and now here we go again, I’m my brushing the fur of my eight cats with a FURminator deShedding tool and collecting it to glue it onto a piece of cardboard shaped like a handlebar mustache to make light of a very serious problem – hairballs. That’s right, the folks at FURminator have come up with yet another fun way to spread awareness about what a hairball is and how we can help prevent our cats from getting them by asking us cat bloggers to take a picture of our cat(s) wearing a mustache made out of their own fur… This isn’t weird at all, right? Of course not, all of my friends are cat lovers or bloggers, so to us, this is all perfectly normal and just another day in the life in the cat blogosphere. Read more

National Kids & Pet Day – Celebrating the Bond and Relationship That Animals Bring to our Youth

romaniaWhile I clearly love cats and they have always been a part of my life, when I was growing up I also was surrounded by an assortment of dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and more. These were not just animals to me, but beloved family members that were an important part of my heart and soul. Not only did they teach me to be a more responsible person, but they also brought out my tender, caring, and nurturing side and as the years have gone by and I am long grown up, I remain a devoted animal lover who could never imagine a day without them in my life. So when I found out today was National Kids and Pet Day, it really spoke to me as someone who deeply understands how important and treasured the relationship between a child and a pet can be.
