I did a post this past Caturday on boxes, stuff, and the inventory of life. It was a thought-provoking piece and I really enjoyed everyone’s reflective comments. But what about the real important stuff to a cat? Like baskets… life doesn’t just have to be about boxes, you know… So, as part of our ongoing Tour de Cat series where we show you a firsthand tour of our house, Zee/Zoey style, for this Wordless Wednesday we focus on the often over-shadowed, but very important nonetheless, basket.

Hmmm…. what do we have here? Zoey wonders if she should keep exploring, play with a toy, or find a good basket to nap in…

Harley is no fool and doesn’t hesitate for a moment… Toys? What toys? This basket is meant for napping!

Peanut agrees with Harley and camouflages herself so that she and the toys have become one!

Mia takes a more decorative approach and looks like a stunning accessory inside the basket as she poses for the camera!

Rolz takes the prize for the ultimate stunning, handsome, and elegant cat…

At year-end where I have my day job, it means the grueling and thankless job of taking inventory and it takes days and days. The company was founded in 1978 and some of the inventory is so old I think it dates back to then. Boxes, totes, pallets, and containers are filled with product and small parts and many of them are caked with dirt and grime as they wait for the annual counting ritual. Heaven forbid we throw any of the old stuff away in case we might need it for some obscure reason and I come home exhausted – every bone in my body aches and all I want to do is shower and crash on my favorite spot on the couch to watch some mindless TV. I can’t lie to you – 2013 was not my favorite year. There was a lot of angst, stress, and unforeseen circumstances that made life emotionally challenging and difficult to bear. But that’s not to say that the year wasn’t filled with incredible good and joy as well. I have been able to continue down my cat loving path with many new doors opening and I just spent the last couple of weeks with my family surrounding me. Read more

Our house has been like Grand Central Station since last week with the comings and goings of family for the holidays and it has been so wonderful having them around. I have been able to take some time off from work and have actually allowed myself to relax a bit – I have done some reading, taken a blogging and Facebook break, and have been treated to many delicious dinners that my family have cooked for all of us. The cats have become accustomed to the change in schedule and have even warmed up in a very non-committal sense to the D.O.G. who never seems to leave. But rather than talk about it, I thought I’d share some family pictures with you all this Caturday so you can see for yourself! Read more

For some Christmas is a time of joyful celebration and for others it may be a time of pain and heartache. I understand the full range of emotion the season can evoke and I respectfully wish all of you blessings from myself, Dan, and the Zee/Zoey feline gang on this day.
We are very blessed to have most of our family with us today and do not take the holiday in vain – for us it is a day to cherish the large and small in our lives and to look forward to a New Year filled with hope and possibility.
Whatever the day means to you, know that you are in our hearts and that we consider your support and friendship a gift each and every day.
Holiday Greetings from Deb, Dan, Harley, Zee, Zoey, Mia, Peanut, Rolz, Kizmet, and our Angel, Mr. Jazz
