Feline Quotable Photo Series – The Heart and Soul of Loving an Animal

zee-bamboo

Seen here is our handsome boy, Zee, who is the epitome of an animal that gives his love with all his heart and soul… Please click on the image to see its full beauty.

If you have experienced the love of an animal, you know that no truer words could be spoken and that is why I appreciate this quote so much and felt it perfect to share for Wordless Wednesday. Not only does loving an animal awaken your soul, but they also give you a reason to wake up each and every day with a sense of joy and purpose. And even more wonderful is the love they give back to you – even if you are having a tough day, or feeling out of sorts or alone, they are by your side, unconditionally, making you feel like the most special person in the whole world. In short, they complete your life and I would not want to ever imagine a world without these incredible creatures.

Anatole France (April 1844 – October 1924) was born in France and was a  poet, journalist, and novelist. While this quote of his clearly emphasizes his understanding of the love an animal can bring into our lives, I was unable to find any direct relationship to cats or pets in his life. The closest I could find was a reference to one of his later works, L’Île des Pingouins, which satirizes human nature by depicting the transformation of penguins into humans after the animals have been baptized by mistake by the nearsighted Abbot Mael. Hmmm….not sure what to make of that, but I do appreciate his quote and I think that Zee is the perfect spokescat to champion the cause worldwide to let a pet into your heart and home!

In Memory of September 11th – Paying our Respects…

in-memoriam---2001We are going to take a break from blogging today to take a moment to pay respect and tribute to all those affected by the tragedies of 9/11. From the senseless deaths of the victims, to the survivors who have to suffer the pain of remembering the day, to even the animals that were left homeless in some cases, wondering when their loving caretaker would come home for the day, of which some who never did, we give a moment of silence to all of you.

We never quite move on, nor do we forget. But, we do persevere, and we do keep the spirit of these dear souls close to our hearts…

Blessings to you and yours from all of us at the Zee/Zoey gang

jazz-thank-you1

Hey Everyone! It’s me, Mr. Jazz from the Bridge, and I just wanted to take a minute to thank all of you for the overwhelming outpouring of support, love, and compassion you have given me and my fellow feline and human family since my passing last week. I am so touched by your kindness and mere words could not possibly express the gratitude I feel for the beautiful comments you left on our blog and other outlets to express your condolences. Wordless Wednesday – Cats Without Rules…

kizmet-and-clutter

Yup, you got it… counters, clutter, keys, and Kizmet. It’s a typical day in the life at our house as Kizmet lays claim to everything in his sight, as his casual extended paw of possessiveness shows.

My keys. My counter. My clutter.  Oh, and not that it matters, but obviously this is a Photoshopped image. We would never allow any of our cats on the counter. Or the dining room table, or the couch, or our bed, or the coffee table, or the TV entertainment center, or… Never mind, clearly if you believe any of this, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you…

Being that Peanut and Mia are actually reading my blog, how could I in all good consciousness kick them off the dining room table?

peanut-couch

Alright… just look at that sweet face… Could you kick Peanut off the couch? I didn’t think so…

mia-peanut-in-bed

Mia and Peanut sleeping together on our bed in a heart shape. I think there are strict “no kicking the cats off the bed” rules for something as endearing as this…

Zee is such a regal and stunning creature that he simply must grace our coffee table as a treasured work of art.

Rolz so perfectly emulates a cat sculpture that one would not even realize he is residing on the TV entertainment center…

What about your house? Do you have strict “no cats allowed here” rules, or, like us, are you a bit more relaxed with where you let your cats hang out?

Jackie’s “Too Many Words Wednesday” Guest Post and Photo Gallery Debut!

Editors Note: I have my own perceptions of my cats, but what I find most fascinating is how others perceive them. As you may be aware, last week was both happy and sad at the same time, as we had family visiting for summer vacation and also to pay respects to a dear friend that had passed away, which means that the cats also had family visiting. One such guest was Dan’s youngest daughter, Jackie, who is 14 years old and a HUGE animal lover. What did she think of the cats? Well, I am very happy to let you know exactly what she thought of them as she shares her take on the Zee/Zoey gang in her first guest post debut and she also shares her first foray into cat photography with absolutely stunning results. Take it away, Jackie! Read more
