Hurricane Matthew Update

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know everything is okay with us. We were spared the brunt of Hurricane Matthew and my heart goes out to all those up the Florida coast, Georgia, and the Carolina’s where Matthew did the bulk of his damage here in the U.S.

If you’ve never been through a potential hurricane, it’s a surreal situation. Hurricane coverage is on 24/7 for days on end on nearly every television channel, cars are lined up bumper-to-bumper for gas, there is a constant faint noise of hammering in the background as people rush to put up shutters, grocery shelves are nearly bare as people stock up on food and water, and your phone is bombarded with texts from people worrying about you. I know it might seem weird to say, but it’s almost like a holiday – there is a certain common buzz in the air and all people talk about is what could happen, and what did happen if you’ve been through hurricanes in years past. Touching Base and Preparing for Hurricane Matthew

zoey-rolz-get-dinner

Don’t worry guys – your needs are at the top of our list!

I normally don’t post mid-week anymore, but Hurricane Matthew is heading our way and I just wanted to touch base in case I can’t communicate for awhile. Dan and I have been busy preparing the house to make sure we have a safe area to stay while we ride things out. It looks like we’ll be hit some time on Thursday and I pray everything will be okay.

Our prayers also go out to those already affected in areas of Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas. I also pray as the storm moves up the eastern coast that everyone will be okay.

Blessings to you all and I’ll post updates on Facebook if and when I can.

We’ll be creating a safe haven in our bedroom to ride out the storm…looks like the cats have approved the arrangements!

Zee Shares a Gift of Love

Maine Coon cats are the gentle giants

My Zee is the epitome of a Maine Coon cat – he’s loving, loyal, and intelligent.

I love Zee. He’s such a sweet, gentle, and kind cat and he demonstrates his love back to me each and every day. He talks to me with his extensive meow vocabulary, he follows me around like a loyal puppy dog, and he patiently waits for me to get up off the couch at night to go to bed so he can cuddle next to me before he eventually settles in to sleep next to my head for the rest of the night. He also brings me gifts at various times of the day, such as stuffed toys dropped at my feet to show his love. But what he did this past Tuesday was so touching, thoughtful, and heartfelt it brought me to tears. Read more

Birthdays, Sunday-Selfie, and Remembering 9/11

Zee from Zee and Zoey's Cat Chronicles turns 11

Happy 11th Birthday to my beautiful Zee who was born on 9/7/2005.

Wednesday was Zee’s 11th birthday. Due to my work schedule, I’m not able to blog during the week like I used to, so I wasn’t able to put up a post to celebrate the day. I did share the news on Facebook and I want to thank everyone who was kind enough to wish him a Happy Birthday. But rather than focus on the fact this post is late, for Sunday-Selfie I thought I’d share a few Zee pictures in his honor. Read more

Unbranded and Loving it – A Grateful Cat Lady!

unbranded

No leopard. No cat ears. Just me in all my unbranded glory. Reflecting (and sweating) in the hot Florida sun about all I’m blessed for in my life.

Finally settled in after my hectic trip to Arizona a couple weeks ago for the BlogPaws/Cat Writers’ Association Conference, I received a phone call from fellow CWA member, Dusty Rainbolt. She had been a past president of the organization at one point, and I was now officially Vice-President, and she wanted to talk to me about my upcoming book project that she’s going to be a part of. Sounds impressive, huh? Read more
