Dreams of my Favorite Things – Cats, Coffee, Crocheting, Reading, and Writing

Reading a book with Rolz tucked on my lap…pure heaven to me.

There are vision boards using images, photos, text and more, designed to serve as a source of inspiration and the power of attraction to attain goals. In the movie Field of Dreams, Kevin Costner speaks the famously recognized phase, “If you build it, he will come.” Using that theory, I’m sharing some of my favorite pictures of me doing what I like to do best, reading, writing, crocheting, or just chillin’ on the couch with a cat or two by my side as I enjoy the peace and inner Zen it brings me. A Reminder to Slow Down and a Happy Sunday-Selfie Moment with Zoey

I was blessed with a wonderful Christmas – lots of family, good food, good conversation, and love. But the days leading up to it, and the days to follow were extremely hectic and stressful, trying to fit it all in-between my day job. To say I’m worn out and behind in everything in my personal life of a cat writer would be an understatement. Hundreds of unanswered emails, articles to write, bookkeeping to attend to and a Cat Writers’ Association conference to get back on track for 2020. Amidst it all, I was graced with a precious and much needed moment yesterday – a rainy day for some catch-up and the delightful company of my sweet Zoey who decided to grace me with her presence, curled up my lap to enjoy the peacefulness of the day.

Zoey looking up at me with her gorgeous golden-green eyes, waiting for me to take her picture.

Luckily my iPhone was close by so I could capture the moment in time – a purr-fect image for Sunday Selfie and a much-needed reminder to slow down and appreciate what’s in front of me, and not a race of what I need to get done.

Happy Sunday everyone – I hope you have some peaceful moments to enjoy, too!

A Sweet Sunday-Selfie of Zee for Christmas

Zee – Christmas season 2019.

I was putting up Christmas decorations and Zee came to help. He looked so handsome with the tree in the background that I thought it would make a lovely Sunday-Selfie image. As the lighting was difficult to master, rending the photo difficult in sharpness, I applied a smoothing feature to it to give it a beautiful glow. It’s not perfect, but with Zee being my senior boy, every picture of him is purrfect in my heart. And look at his heart-shaped nose…doesn’t it just melt your heart!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Shadow’s One Month Anniversary

Shadow has officially been with us for one month!

So, our little black cat, the one who showed up unexpectedly at our house the morning of November 8th has been with us officially one month, today. We named him Shadow, a name perfectly suited for him, as he tends to lurk in the shadows of our house, blending into our counters, furniture, and more. He also likes to shadow the other cats, trying to make friends as only an energetic 6-month-old young cat will do, which they don’t find quite as endearing as I do. Especially Jazmine. Read more

Details for Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 2019

My beloved angel, Mr. Jazz – the inspiration for Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day.

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day is Wednesday, August 28 and for those of you who might want to participate in some manner, I wanted to share the details with you.

First, as with every year, there is no pressure to participate. I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable, as I know it’s not always an easy day for everyone and can be sad. But that said, the outpouring of compassion I see every year is so touching, as people share in the love they have for their pet(s) and it’s a time when we can all take a moment to collectively come together and comfort one another.

Also as with every year, I will also be hosting the annual blog hop here. The post will go live at 12:00 a.m., EST, on August 28 with the code and linking information available then. I have also created a Facebook event page for those who might want to post a picture, share a favorite memory, upload a video, or more. This is the event link: . Please feel free to invite others you think might want to be a part of the day.

I also have an official logo if you don’t already have it and would like to use it. Please email me at info@zeezoey.com and I’ll forward it to you. There is no requirement to use the logo – this day comes from the heart, so please do whatever is most comfortable for you. If you’ll be sharing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or other social venues, you can use the hashtag #rainbowbridgeremembranceday and if you’re crediting me for founding the day in any of your posts, please reference me as Deb Barnes of Zee and Zoey’s Cat Chronicles, author of Purr Prints of the Heart,  and founder of Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day.

Thank you, everyone – my heart goes out to all of you who have loved and lost a pet. And just in case you don’t know, this is the brief history of the day: I founded Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day (RBRD) in 2015 as a special day for pet guardians to honor the memory of those beloved pets in their life they have loved and lost, but never forgotten – whether fur, fin, feathers, scales or something else. It’s held every year on August 28, in honor of the day I had to say goodbye to my precious Ragdoll cat, Mr. Jazz, the meow author of Purr Prints of the Heart – A Cat’s Tale of Life, Death, and Beyond.
