Cats, Crocheting, and Reading… A Forever Calming Influence in My Life…

yarn-2I shared with you on Wednesday some of the ways I like to disconnect from the world to give my mind a mental recharge – stepping away from technology, reading a book, and listening to soothing music were some of the things I mentioned. Another activity that I did not mention is one that has been a cherished favorite of mine that stems back to when I was a little girl – crocheting warm and cozy afghans. Read more

Unplugging From Stress and Finding Inner Calm and Peace With the Help of Our Feline Friends!

Guess what folks, try as we might, we can’t control the world, so why not just focus on the life you are blessed to have around you…

I don’t do it nearly enough but this past weekend was a serious exercise in unplugging myself from all things technological. I found my brain being surrounded by a dizzying array of unhealthy karma and so boom, just like that, I walked away. Cats and the Grieving Process – Reconciling the Loss of Harley and a Special Visit from Mr. Jazz

Harley-(2)There is no doubt the loss of a pet is heartbreaking under any circumstances, but when the loss of a pet comes without warning, the grieving process is unspeakably difficult to convey and bear. Maybe you remember – a couple of weeks ago I did a piece on West Paw Design pet products in honor of Pet Appreciation Week. One of the items I received for my cats to review was a Nature Nap cat bed in a bright turquoise and white color in a zigzag pattern. Nothing against the bed, it truly is beautiful and well made, but it does not fit into the scheme of my warm, neutral-toned house that is peppered with leopard print everywhere. Read more

Connecting the Dots – Cat Names, Books, and the 2014 Petties DogTime Pet Blog Awards Open for Nominations

Memorandium-imageI’m always fascinated when something happens to us in life that seems to have a greater purpose, but we don’t always connect the dots or the meaning right away. You know what I mean…fate, synchronicity, destiny… whatever you want to call it. Sometimes it can happen in a split second and sometimes it might take years… which is what happened to me on Sunday when I was doing some writing on the book I am working on about Jazz. Since the book is being written from his point of view, it has caused me to go back into the deep recesses of the life I shared with him, bringing me to a startling past, present, and future moment.
