Mark Your Calendars – August 28: Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Event

august_28

Mark your calendars everyone – there’s a special new day planned!

As we all know from the world of blogging, there are numerous special events dedicated to particular days, weeks, and months of the year for our pets. Two of them – World Pet Memorial Day (June 9) and National Pet Memorial Day (the second Sunday in September) – are days to memorialize pets we have lost in our lives. But after writing Purr Prints of the Heart,  a book I wrote in tribute to the loss of my beloved cat, Mr. Jazz,  as a means to help people who had also lost pets and were struggling with the grieving process, I realized I wanted something more. Something that focused on two words I see on nearly a daily basis via blogging and social media – Rainbow Bridge. Read more

Purr Prints of the Heart – Guest Post and Fundraiser for Advocates 4 Animals

11347630_864742936928222_873678951_oI was given the opportunity to share a guest post about Purr Prints of the Heart – A Cat’s Tale of Life, Death, and Beyond as written in the voice of my dearly departed cat, Mr. Jazz, on the Kitties in the City blog site. Kitties in the City is a beautiful and informative blog that was created by the talented, award-winning author and pet expert, Stacey Ritz, who is also my dear friend and the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Advocates 4 Animals, Inc. – a 501(c)3 feline welfare organization based in Greene County, OH. Advocates 4 Animals (A4A) is one of my favorite rescues and Stacey gave me the option of having the post go up in late May or early June. Being that June is Adopt a Shelter/Rescue Cat Month and it also marks the one year anniversary month of the unexpected passing of my beloved rescue cat, Harley, (June 24), I knew I had to pick the June date. BlogPaws 2015 – The Next Level

photo-(23)

It was all new to me in 2011, but now seeing a lady wearing cat ears with a cat wearing a dress in a pink catillac stroller is commonplace (in this case, Teri Thorsteinson with Coco the Couture Cat).

BlogPaws 2015 in Nashville was my 4th conference and upon returning, I have to say the most incredible thing about it is how inherently different each conference has been for me. I attended my first BlogPaws conference in 2011 in Tyson’s Corner, VA and I remember feeling like a tiny, cat ear wearing Alice in Wonderland, looking into a crazy, energetic, surreal event that was larger than life to me. Cats in strollers. Dogs wearing dresses. Ferrets on leashes, rats, pigs, hamsters, and so much more – surely the Mad Hatter, White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, and March Hare would appear at any moment to serve me tea … Read more

BlogPaws and My Cats – It’s all About the SWAG!

rolz

Handsome, confident, and supremely cool – Rolz is the epitome of the purr-fect ambassador and spokescat for the awesomeness of BlogPaws swag! Seen here, he is claiming his favorite item – the “KittyKush” catnip grinder made by Trust Fund Pets, Inc.

I’m back from BlogPaws safe and sound and can’t wait to tell you all about my experiences in Nashville! Trouble is, my brain and body have not yet caught up with my whirlwind adventures, so until I can regain a semblance of my sanity I thought I’d share the reason why my cats don’t give me the silent, indignant, “How dare you leave us” treatment when I come home from traveling like they used to years prior to my blogging. In a four letter word – SWAG.

So here you go, in the spirit of sort of Wordless Wednesday, here’s a photo glimpse into how my cats get to take advantage of the aftermath of BlogPaws! Enjoy and see you tomorrow for a special Thursday blog post in honor of Hug Your Cat Day. Read more

A Leopard Lady and Her Cat Ears – Heading off to Nashville for BlogPaws!

Going-to-BP-2

Cat ears and all, I’m packed and will be arriving in Nashville for BlogPaws today! Unlike some of my more enterprising, talented, and efficient blogging friends who manage to blog while they travel, I, instead will be taking a much needed hiatus until my return. Call it lazy, but without my computer at home, I am just all thumbs when it comes to typing on a tiny lap top or mobile device, so it’s just better for everyone in the long run!

I hope you all have a lovely week while I am gone and I promise when I get home, lots of great recaps, pictures (well, probably not so many great pictures since I am terrible with a camera and Dan won’t be going with me), giveaways and more. Not to mention, June is Adopt a Cat month, so you can be sure in the weeks to come, that Zee and Zoey’s blog will be filled to the brim with all kinds of inspiring and fun cat related posts! As far as my cats, do they like me traveling to BlogPaws? Not really. But somehow they know how to connect the dots – a suitcase with no kitty treats and mom leaving means upon her return, somehow it will be magically filled with treats!
