FURminator Winner Announced and Fur Flying Cat Fun at Zee and Zoey’s!

Today is the day we announce our FURminator deShedding tool winner and that got me to thinking strangely enough for this Wordless Wednesday, of all things, fur flying. As in those moments with our kitties when there is a particular glare, stance, or implied body language between cats that might suggest a possible fur flying incident to ensue! But, before I share some of those fur flying moments, we are happy to announce our FURminator winner!

Congratulations to Debbie Willey – she is our winner and this is the awesome comment she submitted to let us know who she would use the FURminator for if she won:

“I have been involved in shelter cat rescue for the past 10 years, so even though I share my life with dogs too, I’d ask for a cat FURminator to use on the rescue kitties. After all, we need to have them looking spiffy when they go to their forever homes!”

Great comment Debbie!! We are thrilled to be able to send you a FURminator and thank you so much for participating in our giveaway. Now, on to some fur flying moments captured in time! Read more

For Cats, it’s all About Location, Location, Location When it Comes to Cat Napping!

This was the photo Dan took of Mia in the Nature Pet bed from West Paw Design. She was gracious enough to be our cat model for the blog piece and the bed was to be moved elsewhere after the photo shoot.

Maybe you remember – a couple of weeks ago I did a piece on West Paw Design pet products in honor of Pet Appreciation Week. One of the items I received for my cats to review was a Nature Nap cat bed in a bright turquoise and white color in a zigzag pattern. Nothing against the bed, it truly is beautiful and well made, but it does not fit into the scheme of my warm, neutral-toned house that is peppered with leopard print everywhere. Read more

This is what my counter looks like preparing for any holiday dinner – lots of prep work and a big mess! This was from last Christmas when my step-daughter Jackie and I were making homemade cookies!

I don’t know about your house, but in ours, feeding the cats dinner is like preparing a Thanksgiving feast that a mob of hungry guests is anticipating to be served. The prep time can take days and the cooking itself becomes an Olympic event. And then finally, after all that pomp, circumstance, and glory you sit down at 5:00 p.m. to eat that glorious meal. And at promptly 5:07 p.m. you are done eating… Read more

Multi-Cats, Cat’s Pride Litter, and the Thrill of the Hunt!

Um…yeah…you had me at “hello” you sweet bogo sign!

There are just certain phrases that cause my heart to race – you know, like “clearance sale,” “50% off,” and “buy one, get one free.” This is especially true when it comes to shoes, but with the limited income I have at the moment, it is like having the heavens open up and winning the lottery when the phrase applies to something as practical as cat litter! And not just any cat litter, but the brand of cat litter that my cats use!! Hallelujah and praise to the cat litter gods!!

Yup… last Thursday Dan and I were doing our weekly grocery shopping at Publix when we happened upon that glorious sign that we see maybe once or twice a year if we are lucky… The Cat’s Pride brand of litter that our cats use was buy one, get one free!!! Now this might not be a big deal to everyone, but to us in our multi-cat home of 8, not only was it a big deal, it was an EVENT. I say this because unlike the times we (me) fall victim to the hypnotic charms of the bogo signs, buying things in bulk that will take us a lifetime to use, like wax paper, Cat’s Pride litter is something our cats use each and every week without fail. Spring brings with it a beautiful time of renewal and rebirth, but for an innocent kitten intent on keeping the world safe from harm’s way, it is not all peaches and cream…

Spring starts out innocently enough… daffodils and tulips bloom, the sunlight hours are longer and we can shed our heavy sweaters and clunky boots. But before you know it, it also brings with it things like heavy rains, severe allergies, fleas, and of course, something far more ominous… That’s right… I’m talking about the infiltration into our homes of the extremely dangerous feather boa toy… A phenomenon that very few people, if any at all, know about… Read more
