Quotable Wednesday – The Cat Calm in the Midst of Chaos

I am back from taking a couple days off from work so I could spend some time with my step-daughter, Crystal, who was visiting from Boston. It was great having the time off, aside from the fact that the work doesn’t do itself while I am away. I was greeted to a cheery mountain of paperwork a mile high at the beginning of this week, just waiting for my return. Needless to say, playing catch up in the fast paced world we live in is stressful to say the least! That’s why I decided on a Semi-Wordless Wednesday post for today and somehow this quote by author, Roseanne Amberson, just seemed to sum it up perfectly!

Have a wonderful rest of your week everyone – I will be sure to get you caught up on all the fun the cats and I had while Crystal was visiting on my upcoming Caturday post!

As a point of interest, Roseanne Amberson is the author of the book, “Raising Your Cat,” that was published in 1969. Has anyone ever read this book? It would be interesting to see what has, and has not, changed over the years.

Finding the Joy in Scooping Cat Litter

Litter in use

Yup… the litter boxes in my house have more traffic than a grocery store deli the night before a big holiday…

I get up at 6:00 a.m. to get ready for work and I’m quite organized with my routine. Brush teeth, shower, get dressed, do my make-up, scoop litter. Scoop litter again. Do a cat count – Zee, Zoey, Mia, Peanut, Rolz, Kizmet, and Jazmine. Check. Okay. Say goodbye to Dan and the cats and get ready to leave. Scoop litter. Scoop litter again… What? Yes, sigh… Much as I love my little furry darlings, they drive me crazy with the litter and I honestly think they deliberately coordinate their efforts so that as soon as I scoop the box, they already know who will instantly be in line, ready to use it again. I literally will have one foot out the door, ready to leave, and I will hear them in one of the litter boxes, so I have to come back in and scoop again. Read more

Zoey and her son, Rolz. This was back in 2009 – to this day, they continue to share a special bond.

There’s been a lot of sadness of late – cats being sick, cats unexpectedly leaving us, or remembering cats that left us in days, weeks, or years past. Through all the community conversation and support, one message rang that has rang loud and clear, is that we all love our cats and we all shower them with as many hugs, snuggles, and cuddles as we can on a daily basis.  Read more

Cats and a Mid-Year Reality Check

photo

This was me last Friday, firmly planted on the couch with Mia and Zoey on my legs to begin my Orange is the New Black viewing marathon. Some people actually watched all 13 episodes in one day. I am a bit more reserved – it will take me about 7 days…

Having binge watched nearly all of the new episodes of Season 3 of the NetFlix megahit, Orange is the New Black, that was released a mere 6 days ago, it dawned on me just how quickly time has gone by. We live in an age where we can literally watch an entire season of a show in one day if we want to. Remember the olden days, that cumbersome era in time, about two years ago, when we’d have to wait an entire week to watch a show before we could watch the next episode? Torture… just how did we survive back then? Read more

BlogPaws and My Cats – It’s all About the SWAG!

rolz

Handsome, confident, and supremely cool – Rolz is the epitome of the purr-fect ambassador and spokescat for the awesomeness of BlogPaws swag! Seen here, he is claiming his favorite item – the “KittyKush” catnip grinder made by Trust Fund Pets, Inc.

I’m back from BlogPaws safe and sound and can’t wait to tell you all about my experiences in Nashville! Trouble is, my brain and body have not yet caught up with my whirlwind adventures, so until I can regain a semblance of my sanity I thought I’d share the reason why my cats don’t give me the silent, indignant, “How dare you leave us” treatment when I come home from traveling like they used to years prior to my blogging. In a four letter word – SWAG.

So here you go, in the spirit of sort of Wordless Wednesday, here’s a photo glimpse into how my cats get to take advantage of the aftermath of BlogPaws! Enjoy and see you tomorrow for a special Thursday blog post in honor of Hug Your Cat Day. Read more
