Cat ears and Caturday, to me, just like coffee and cream, or a rainy day and a good book, somethings just go together.
Although for me, it’s really any day and cat ears, because I’ll take any opportunity, reason, or excuse to don my favorite feline fashion accessory. But be forewarned, as the bevy of pictures to follow will show, it’s not just me and cat ears I’m obsessed with – man, woman, child, friend, family member, dogs, cats, and even rats, if you’re anywhere in my vicinity, I’ll try to get you to wear a pair of my cat ears as well! Tick, tock – the clock strikes noon and I grab my purse in frazzled haste, heading to my car where I sit in the sweltering South Florida heat to make some phone calls during my lunch hour in the parking lot. I sweat; loose papers are haphazardly strewn on my makeshift desk, which in this instance are my blue jean clad knees, while I frantically try to take notes amid the disruptive roar and rumble of afternoon traffic, rendering it nearly impossible for me to hear. My goodness… I can’t believe I haven’t posted something since Easter! What this tells me is a reality that I’ve been having a hard time coming to grips with, but the glaring truth nonetheless: I’m not Super-Woman and I’m literally incapable of managing an extremely demanding full-time day job, my more than full-time position of president of the Cat Writers’ Association, which includes coordinating a 25th anniversary conference and awards banquet, my home and personal life, and a blogging/writing career in the 24 hours a day I’m given. Hey everyone! I had wanted to do a recap of my experience attending the 24th annual Cat Writers’ Conference and Awards Banquet last June 7 – 9 in Houston, TX. From start to finish it was a perfect alignment of the sun, moon, and stars. I remembered to pack my razor and phone charger. I had pre-TSA check-in at the airport. I’ll be heading out at o’dark hundred this coming Thursday morning en route to Houston for our annual Cat Writers’ Association Conference that will be held June 7 -9. I’m not a fan of packing at the last minute, so I took my time doing it this weekend. Right off the bat, something was different from my normal routine – a copious absence of leopard attire. Before you get all up in arms, don’t panic. I still brought my trademark leopard cat ears and I will be wearing a leopard-themed outfit here and there, but this year I decided to show off my new line of custom-designed cat T-shirts instead.
