Cat Writers’, Cats, Crochet, Calvin, and Covid – Making Sense of it All

I shared this graphic a couple of weeks ago on a Friday but it remains true to the landscape of COVID-19. Just what day is it anymore?

The dichotomy is interesting and not one I’m entirely capable of expressing or even understanding. I’m living in the present, going through the motions of life, but somehow, I’m detached from it all, as if perhaps it’s happening to someone else as I watch it from the sidelines. Each day runs into the next with no real beginning or end, time seemingly defined by body counts, not days, with the only real marker of time the loud and persistent daily reminders from my cats who demand meals with regularity, showing no regard for my malaise or inability to comprehend the newly defined COVID-19 landscape all around me. Cat Ear Caturday – A Cat Lady’s Element

Enter at your own risk!

Cat ears and Caturday, to me, just like coffee and cream, or a rainy day and a good book, somethings just go together.
Although for me, it’s really any day and cat ears, because I’ll take any opportunity, reason, or excuse to don my favorite feline fashion accessory. But be forewarned, as the bevy of pictures to follow will show, it’s not just me and cat ears I’m obsessed with – man, woman, child, friend, family member, dogs, cats, and even rats, if you’re anywhere in my vicinity, I’ll try to get you to wear a pair of my cat ears as well! Did she say the room would be for seating of eight, or we’re meeting at a later date? Read more

Getting Ready for the CWA Conference, it’s National Pet Month, and There’s a Stray Cat in My Yard!

My goodness… I can’t believe I haven’t posted something since Easter! What this tells me is a reality that I’ve been having a hard time coming to grips with, but the glaring truth nonetheless: I’m not Super-Woman and I’m literally incapable of managing an extremely demanding full-time day job, my more than full-time position of president of the Cat Writers’ Association, which includes coordinating a 25th anniversary conference and awards banquet, my home and personal life, and a blogging/writing career in the 24 hours a day I’m given. Something must give, and for the time being it’s my personal writing. Read more

Cat Writers’ Association 24th Conference, a New Presidential Beginning, and Purrs for My Eye Surgery

Sure…my luggage might have a few love scratches and frays from my cats, but as long as the contents are less than 50 pounds, I don’t care!

Hey everyone! I had wanted to do a recap of my experience attending the 24th annual Cat Writers’ Conference and Awards Banquet last June 7 – 9 in Houston, TX. From start to finish it was a perfect alignment of the sun, moon, and stars. I remembered to pack my razor and phone charger. I had pre-TSA check-in at the airport. My luggage was less than 50 pounds and my hair was uncharacteristically cooperative during my stay. Read more
