Cats and a Mid-Year Reality Check

This was me last Friday, firmly planted on the couch with Mia and Zoey on my legs to begin my Orange is the New Black viewing marathon. Some people actually watched all 13 episodes in one day. I am a bit more reserved – it will take me about 7 days…
Having binge watched nearly all of the new episodes of Season 3 of the NetFlix megahit, Orange is the New Black, that was released a mere 6 days ago, it dawned on me just how quickly time has gone by. We live in an age where we can literally watch an entire season of a show in one day if we want to. Remember the olden days, that cumbersome era in time, about two years ago, when we’d have to wait an entire week to watch a show before we could watch the next episode? Torture… just how did we survive back then?
All of this got me to thinking of time. Here it is Wednesday, the middle of the work week, and here it is also, just like the blink of an eye, the middle of the year already. Sigh… How are we all doing? Have you met the goals you set out for yourself at the beginning of the year? Have you kept your resolutions? I am quite happy to report that I am on track – my goal this year was to have my newest book, Purr Prints of the Heart – A Cat’s Tale of Life, Death, and Beyond, published in time for BlogPaws. Not only did I accomplished that, but I’m excited to report I have several new book ideas bubbling in the back of my cat loving brain as well.

A very happy day for me – receiving the first draft copy of Purr Prints back in March. It only took me four more revisions to get it right!
Other goals, well, I must admit I have not lived up to my elusive dream of keeping my office clean or keeping up with my bookkeeping. I also have not finished a puzzle I started last December with reckless abandon, like I actually thought I could fit 2000 maddeningly shaped pieces into my already too hectic life that consists of writing and marketing a book, keeping up with a blog, working a full time job and maintaining a household filled with 7 cats and 3 humans… Sure Deb… goals are always great to have, especially when they’re realistic…

Throwing caution to the wind, I actually thought I could start a puzzle and complete it! Seen here helping me with this obvious charade is Jackie, along with my feline helpers, Rolz, Jazmine, and Mia.
As far as my cats, well, I am happy to report they are right on schedule. Daily naps – check. Daily snacks – check. Sleeping in sunpuddles – check. Having me serve them dinner the same time every night – check. They actually are quite impressive and inspirational – they have accomplished all of these goals and many more with barely a yawn in the day.
I don’t know about you, but all of this talk about getting stuff done is making me nervous… Christmas is just around the corner and I havn’t started my shopping yet. Oh, who am I kidding… those days where I used to shop efficiently for gifts year round are long gone… Add me to the list of those that do their shopping after the Thanksgiving holiday!
Happy mid-year all and don’t forget that June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month and for every sale of Purr Prints made between now and the end of this month, I will be donating 10% of the proceeds of the sales to Advocates 4 Animals. If you missed my special post about the details, please click here.
We did that with LOST. LOST a whole weekend, but it was so much fun.
And I love all of your pics but the “adorable” pic of Jazmine is amazing! Her placement on the table and the grain of the wood looks like a sunburst….or either I’m up too late.
Love the last picture. MOL! Don’t frighten the head peep about Christmas! She’s feeling very disorganized already this year and it’s only June.
I can’t believe it’s the middle of June already. Going way to fast. Your kitties are so beautiful. Hope you having a great week!
The year is flying by! The mom says it does that the older you get. BTW, she’s practicing self-restraint and hasn’t watched all the OITNB episodes yet…she’s only watched about 5 so far.
