A Temporary Moment of Panic in the Zee & Zoey Cat House!

It is her! How dare she leave us!

Doesn’t she know we need to be fed dinner in 8 hours? We might starve between now and then!

Guys. Seriously. No need to panic. I promise I’ll be home in plenty of time to feed you dinner. I’m just taking a break today to be with your human Grandma. As a Christmas gift, I promised her an early morning out for breakfast followed by a day at the beach. You do realize you nap all day long anyhow, so it’s not like much will change in your world with me gone for a few hours…

Hmmm….she does make a good point! Zzzzz….snore….zzzzz….

Hope everyone has a great Sunday and wonderful upcoming week!

When it Comes to Blending In, Cats are Masters of Disguise!

Not only do Peanut, Mia, and Rolz look alike at first glance, but when they’re on top of a leopard bedspread, they look like they could be pillows instead of cats!

I don’t know about you, but whenever I leave the house, I do a cat “head-count.” With my vision still blurry, this presents even more of a challenge than normal when I go to work in the morning, as my cats are quite the masters of disguise and sometimes they don’t cooperate when I call them! Usually, I can find most of them rather quickly, as they tend to hang out in the same spot, but sometimes one of them will be in a place that just eludes me. Read more

Where Will You be During the August 21 Solar Eclipse?

very nice black cat with yellow eyes

There are certain “where were you” moments in life, such as when I was a very young girl – where was I when I heard John F. Kennedy was shot, or when I was in my late 20’s – where was I when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded, or when I was in my early 40’s – where was I when the 9/11 terrorist attacks occurred. While today’s solar eclipse is not an event mired in tragedy, it is triggering nationwide attention and is something I know I will remember in my mind for years to come.

For me, the solar eclipse is scheduled to peak at 2:57:40 pm EDT, when the moon obscures 79.9% of the sun. I will be with my co-workers and I’ll probably be watching it live streaming on the Total Solar Eclipse 2017 App I downloaded for my iPhone.

I don’t have safety glasses and I don’t plan on risking my eyesight to look at this phenomenon. My cats will be home, safe and sound, most likely napping through the entire eclipse without even a momentary thought that something different was going on in their day. Now, if the eclipse was later in the day, say around an hour before dinner time, that would be an entirely different story, as that’s the time they begin early pacing to eat.

Rolz speaks on behalf of all the cats in my house…

So, where will you be during the eclipse and how do you plan on looking at it? If you’d like to find out what time the eclipse will peak in your area and the obscurity percentage, please visit this link – all you do is plug in your zip code and it figures it out for you! If you will be outside, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be safe and make sure you are wearing the properly  endorsed eye wear from The American Astronomical Society – there’s a lot of unscrupulous scammers out there trying to make a quick buck and you can never be too careful. For more information of what glasses are safe and instructions on how to view the eclipse, please visit their official site here.

A Momentary Cat Panic at Zee & Zoey’s on a Relaxing Sunday

Hey everyone – we just wanted to take an extremely brief second from our delightful sunlit infused nap to revel in the glory that is Sunday. There’s nothing better than being a cat and spending the entire glorious, wonderful, beautiful, gorgeous day relaxing and taking it easy. It truly doesn’t get any better than this…

Wait a minute…there seems to be a distinctively ominous change in the air…is something going on?

Yes kitties, you are right. There is a distinctive change in the air. It’s me. I’m already feeling anxious knowing this upcoming week will be the last one before the onslaught of chaotic, nightmarish bumper-to-bumper traffic, and horrendous driving to work delays will happen because school starts again on August 21. My normal 20 minute drive will now escalate to 45 minutes or more and no matter how hard I try to remain calm and unaffected by it, I can’t. Traffic delays make me nuts and despite my relatively peaceful nature, it gets my blood boiling.

But honestly guys, I don’t know what the panic is. You don’t drive. You don’t work. And for that matter, you don’t go to school. Your life will remain exactly the same – living the life of deeply spoiled cats who are loved and adored by their humans to the ends of the earth and back.

Actually, I take that back. You’ll lives will chance slightly. Rather than me coming home from work my normal grumpy self, I will be even more grumpy! I will grab my glass of wine quicker than normal, but I promise, you will still be fed nearly two seconds after I walk in the door, and you will be able to look forward to me brushing you, playing with you, and giving you treats like I do any other day…

Happy Sunday everyone!! I hope you have a day that is as great as the one my cats will have! If you live in Florida like I do, chances are school will be starting within the next week or so for you, too. School starts earlier here than it does in the Northern states, but it also ends earlier, too, so it all evens out in the end!

Cat Weather Prediction for South Florida – Hot and Sunny with a High Probability of Window Napping

Yeah…it’s hot out! Remember to keep yourself and your pets hydrated!

Rainy season in South Florida typically begins sometime in the month of May. True to form, I think it rained nearly every single day since then, up until June 21st, the official first day of summer. Mother Nature, taking it as a literal cue, flipped a switch and it was officially hot. Unlike other regions in the country, we don’t gradually ramp up to summer, you just wake up one morning and it’s 90 degree hot. Read more
