Today is the day we announce our FURminator deShedding tool winner and that got me to thinking strangely enough for this Wordless Wednesday, of all things, fur flying. As in those moments with our kitties when there is a particular glare, stance, or implied body language between cats that might suggest a possible fur flying incident to ensue! But, before I share some of those fur flying moments, we are happy to announce our FURminator winner!

Congratulations to Debbie Willey – she is our winner and this is the awesome comment she submitted to let us know who she would use the FURminator for if she won:
“I have been involved in shelter cat rescue for the past 10 years, so even though I share my life with dogs too, I’d ask for a cat FURminator to use on the rescue kitties. After all, we need to have them looking spiffy when they go to their forever homes!”
Great comment Debbie!! We are thrilled to be able to send you a FURminator and thank you so much for participating in our giveaway. Now, on to some fur flying moments captured in time! Read more

Leave it to Beaver debuted in 1957 – hard to believe how much life has changed since then…
The Happy Day’s/Leave it to Beaver world where dad would go off to work and mom would stay at home to raise the kids and keep the house in order are long gone. Our lives are no longer dictated by traditional male/female roles and neither is our work schedule. 9 to 5 is a time frame that applies to some people in a work sense, but for many more, they work evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
So, when we say TGIF in reference to looking forward to a Saturday and Sunday weekend, that phrase doesn’t really apply to everyone anymore – one person’s Friday could be another person’s Tuesday and that is why cats are so brilliant. Seriously, they truly are so much more ahead of us in the intelligence curve because when you look at their behavior, it seems they have known all along that every day could be the opportunity for a TGIF moment for someone and that is why they have perfected the art of relaxation pretty much 24/7.
In honor of that mindset, please allow my cats to demonstrate that point with a more modern approach to interpreting the days of the week (and please click images to enlarge): Read more

Sure, a feeding bowl that is sturdy and practical is great for our pets and there are plenty of them to choose from online and in the stores, but what about a feeding bowl that is sturdy, practical, and completely, fun, stylish, trendy, and chic? Do they even exist? Could we dare be so lucky to combine high-design with functionality? In a nutshell, not only do they exist, but I have an incredible giveaway opportunity for FIVE lucky readers to win TWO BOWLS EACH from the Milano Collection from Loving Pets to prove it to you! This was the photo Dan took of Mia in the Nature Pet bed from West Paw Design. She was gracious enough to be our cat model for the blog piece and the bed was to be moved elsewhere after the photo shoot.
Maybe you remember – a couple of weeks ago I did a piece on West Paw Design pet products in honor of Pet Appreciation Week. One of the items I received for my cats to review was a Nature Nap cat bed in a bright turquoise and white color in a zigzag pattern. Nothing against the bed, it truly is beautiful and well made, but it does not fit into the scheme of my warm, neutral-toned house that is peppered with leopard print everywhere. Read more

Yes… once again summer is upon us which means lots of extra shedding from our kitties… if only there were a pet hair solution for them…
It’s official – summer is here and with the increase in temperature also comes the increase in the amount of hair our beloved kitties can shed. This, of course, means an increase in the amount of hair we have to vacuum off our floors and furniture and it also means more hair for kitty to possibly ingest, which could result in them getting a dangerous hairball. Summer is supposed to be a time of fun and relaxation – not a time for grueling chores and nasty hairballs, but what are we supposed to do? Unless you have a hairless cat, hair happens… Read more
