What!!! Much as I want time to stand still, another year has passed and it is already time again to say Happy Birthday to our sweet Zee, who turns 9 today! Sigh…That’s right – Zee was born on September 7th which makes him a Virgo and he certainly fits the bill for the tendencies of his astrological sign –  a delightfully fussy and fastidious feline who needs routine and order in his life, and as long as he has it, then he is as happy and content as can be.

No denying it any longer… Summer break is officially over and for the cats, that means back to their regularly scheduled programming…Which, of course, means back to napping pretty much 16 hours a day. So in that vein, today for Wordless Wednesday each of my sweet kitties shares a picture of one of their favorite places to nap!

Since the first moment Jazmine first happened upon the Sunny Seat, it has been a love affair for her ever since…

While it might appear uncomfortable, given that it is a cold and hard surface, Kizmet loves to nap on the top shelf of the kitchen counter…

Pretty Mia gives us an artistic view of herself as she shares her favorite napping spot which happens to be a sweet little ottoman we have in the living room.

Peanut loves to catch some snoozes in the top perch of this cat condo…

While Rolz still misses his buddy, Jackie, he is thrilled to have the guest bedroom back so he can nap in comfort in front of his favorite sun-drenched window.

Zoey is also happy to have the guest room back – she loves to snuggle up in a perfect little ball of fur as she shares the bed with a mountain of pillows and plush toys!

Zee has loved this spot on top of the couch to nap for years and it remains one of his favorite places…

Well, it’s official… Jackie has gone back to Boston and the house is back to it’s too quiet self. Dan and I already miss her tons and so do the kitties. Their routine was a bit out of whack with her around – doors that we typically keep opened were closed (Jackie’s bedroom where there is a window for squirrel and bird TV) and doors that we typically keep closed (the guest bedroom with carpeting and lots of breakables) were opened for Jackie’s cousin, Katie, who came by for a visit the last week Jackie was with us and who does not like to sleep with her door closed. A year passes far too quickly. How is it that my Mr. Jazz has already been gone for 365 days when it seems like just yesterday he was snuggling on the couch with me, making biscuits on my chest with his big bear paws. But it’s true. Today marks the anniversary of the date I had to say goodbye to one of my best friends.

While my heart is still heavy with sadness, I have decided not to take the maudlin road that remains inside me, but rather to celebrate the day. Celebrate the fact that I was blessed to have him as part of my life and celebrate the fact that the love, joy, and friendship he gave me for 15 years far outweighs any of the sadness and grief I might still be feeling at his passing. Wow – thanks to my dear friend, the wildly creative and talented Angie Bailey of the award-winning blog, Catladyland,  and Texts from Mittens, I am about to go on tour! No, not the kind of tour like musicians who make gobs of money while wearing outlandish costumes (unless you count my penchant for wearing leopard ears) on stage and who make outrageous demands for things like green M&M’s only in their dressing room. This is the kind of tour where I make no money whatsoever, I eat whatever is put in front of me, whether I like it or not, and I wear old and baggy sweat pants (i.e., comfortable) with the hem coming undone. Yes, I have been invited to go on the Writing Process Blog Tour that has been making the rounds of late!

This is what I look like on tour – comfortable clothes and unkempt hair with my feline roadies at my side helping me every step of the way. Sigh…the life of a cat writer is very glamorous indeed… (Archive photo from 2010)

It’s pretty easy in premise – after a writer accepts the invitation to join the tour, they answer 4 set questions about, yes, you guessed it, their blog writing process, then when they are done, they invite two other people to join the tour who will write about their blog writing process at some point! So, go grab a cup of coffee and a cat for your lap.
