Standing in front of the Hemingway House before we enter for the tour
As you know, I was on vacation recently with my family and one of the places we went to visit was the Hemingway House in Key West. Clearly, being the cat lover I am, this was really no surprise. But, what can one say about the Hemingway House or Hemingway that hasn’t already been said? After all, he’s been dead since 1961 and is firmly entrenched in the pages of history. The house remains a beloved tourist attraction in the Keys and the Hemingway cats are legendary. Nobel Prize writing author (Old Man and the Sea), cat lover, notorious drinker, and fisherman are all images that come to mind when I think of this literary talent. Now, upon further inspection, I have come to the conclusion that Ernie and I are long lost relatives. The evidence seems all but indisputable, but I will let you be the judge… Read more

CAUTION….
SCROLL VERY, VERY SLOWLY…
ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK….

GRRR…. I SAID GRRR…
I hope I did not scare you all too much on this Wordless Wednesday, but I did warn you!! That tough little guy in the above picture was Zeuss Catt at 7 weeks of age!

I must admit this is a new day to me and I feel remiss that I have not gotten my cats a proper Hallmark card to celebrate this noteworthy day. I found out about it on facebook and the whole idea is to join the world by posting a picture, poem, story, etc., in honor of your cats – past or present – in your blog and sharing your blog link in the cat blogosphere.
Well, the picture I chose is of Zoey with her son Rolz who was 7 weeks at the time. This picture never fails to tug at my heart strings and it just epitomizes to me what love is – simple, pure, unconditional, and precious. For that is what my cats are to me – from Gigi-fluffy-Sharon – who was my first cat I remember when I was a young girl, to the current seven I have now (Zee, Zoey, Mia, Peanut, Rolz, Harley, and Jazz), I love you all dearly and could not imagine a life without you. Each of you have given me my unique moments and memories – some wonderful, some even frustrating (just how many times can you use the litter box in a row after I scoop it?) Nonetheless, you have always been at my side, giving me your unconditional love and devotion. To me, every day is Cat Day, but, in keeping with tradition, cheers to my sweet babies on this August 8th!!!

Editors Note: It’s been a while since we’ve had a post from our favorite guest blogger – Zee and Zoey’s son – Zeuss Catt from Boston. He decides to critique a toy that is very popular in the canine world…. regrettably, he does not give it a full “paws up” of approval. He does know he is a cat, right?
Woof
by Zeuss Catt
One of the humans brought home a very strange toy. It was presented to me while I was lounging upstairs in my room, and I must write that I’m not impressed. This particular toy is called a woof.

I’d always wanted to try out a “dog toy”, and you won’t find a more classic “dog toy” than the woof. It’s blue and has a comically weird shape. “How weird is this shape,” you ask? Think “cartoon-bone” weird, and did I mention that it’s blue? When you squeeze it, the woof makes a loud, shrill squeak, although not usually for a prolonged amount of time. At least, not while I played with it. The human seemed to love making the woof squeak, and waving this odd object in my face. Read more

Ah… life is blessedly back to normal for Zee… no more campaigning for the Petties and no more vacation time whereby his human Mom and Dad abandoned him to travel across Florida. Sigh… it’s good to be a cat!
