Mia, Peanut, Rolz, and Zeuss Catt Turn 10 Years Old!

Happy 10th Birthday to my precious feline companions, Mia, Peanut, and Rolz!

No, no, no!!! How can it be that 10 years have gone by? Zoey’s sweet little kittens, four of them born on February 12, 2009, are now TEN YEARS OLD!! My goodness, such a blessing and privilege to witness every moment – from their birth (two of them were born on my lap!), to seeing their eyes open for the first time as they took in the amazing world around them (albeit a tiny box in a closet at the moment) and all the other sacred firsts. Their first wobbly steps. Their first taste of cat food. Their first playtime interactions. Their first exploration outside of the closet. Their first hisses and so many more cherished milestone moments.

Over the years, Mia, Peanut, and Rolz have grown into wonderfully unique personalities, despite coming from the same litter and living in the same home environment every day of their life with their fur parents, Zee and Zoey. Brother Zeuss Catt is the only one who moved on. He has a happy life in Boston, MA, with a dear friend of ours and is appropriately worshiped and spoiled.

Zee – a Maine Coon, and Zoey, a Bengal are the parents of Mia, Peanut, Rolz, and Zeuss Catt. They all favor Zoey’s slender build and spots but have Zee’s darker coloring.

Despite the personality differences, on the surface, they might look nearly identical if you don’t know them. Truthfully, when they were kittens it was nearly impossible to tell them apart. But if you look closely, they really are quite different. Sweet Mia has more of a tawny undercoat, a by-product of her mama Zoey’s golden coloring, and her fur has a lovely swirl pattern on her sides.

Mia and her beautiful swirl pattern!

Peanut has the darkest coloring of the bunch, more reflective of her papa Zee, and her coat pattern has large dots, somewhat like pebbles. Rolz, our resident male sibling has the lightest coloring, grey in tone, and his pattern is small dots that give the appearance of stripes.

Rolz has a lighter-colored coat and his spots become squiggly lines.

We haven’t seen Zeuss Catt in years, but he’s very happy in Boston. Like his brother Rolz, his coat has a grey undertone with smaller spots and squiggly lines.

All of them are sweet and kind… not necessarily to one another, as I admit we do have our fair share of sibling in-house fighting, but overall they are quite affectionate, as long as it’s on their terms! Mia loves to snuggle on my outstretched legs at night when I’m on the couch, but hugging and holding ARE NOT PERMITTED. Peanut will seek my lap and sleep next to me at night and you can hug and hold her as much as you want. Rolz enjoys being touched if he’s initiated the contact. Otherwise, if you pet him, his body morphs into liquid form as he does his best to discreetly slip from your touch.

How it all began for Zee, Zoey, Mia, Peanut, Rolz, as well as other assorted humans, felines, and canines as told in the book “The Chronicles of Zee & Zoey – A Journey of the Extraordinarily Ordinary.

I wish my sweet babies many more happy birthdays and in celebration of the day, here’s a trip down memory lane! If you’ve enjoyed the pictures but would like to see more, please consider reading The Chronicles of Zee & Zoey – A Journey of the Extraordinarily Ordinary, the book that started my foray into cat writing and so much more. The book is coffee table quality, sweet, humorous, and inspirational, with over 200 stunning color photographs and if you’ve ever wanted an insider look at kittens from birth to adulthood, this book is for you! Week 2 – the eyes open!

Week 5 – Can we please leave the closest now? We’re ready to explore!

Week 7 – Out of the closet and playtime becomes a group activity!

6 months old – the feline-human bond becomes stronger and stronger. This was the beginning of a dark time in my life, one in which these sweet babies got me through.

One year old – the gang was inseparable back then!

At 3-years old, three spotted peas in a pod!

Happy Birthday to my sweet gang! A wonderful moment from 2010 – Papa Zee overseeing the family, with mama Zoey giving Mia a bath and Peanut and Rolz enjoying the moment!
