Cats and Taxes – Yes, There is a Connection!
It’s an interesting dichotomy. I’m literally one of the most goal-oriented, over-achieving, workaholics on this planet, but I’m also one of the biggest procrastinators you’ll ever meet when I don’t want to do something. My brain and body merge into a giant brick wall, rendering me helpless to the inevitable. I’ll do things I normally try to avoid – cleaning the bathroom, vacuuming, laundry, grueling yard work – and I’ll also spend an inordinate amount of time, above and beyond what I normally do of surfing the internet looking at cats, leopard print, shoes, puppies, and stories of kids who hilariously react to parents who tell them they’re going to have a new brother or sister. But, alas, all good things must come to an end, and the time has come…to dig through my files of paperwork and begin preparing my income taxes.
The crazy part, once I dig in, I realize I’m not nearly as disorganized as I thought, and the process is relatively painless. And if I really put my mind to it, I could probably make it even easier next year by just keeping up on things as they come, rather than waiting to compile everything all at once. As it was, it only took me a couple hours this year, including the help from my cats, and once it was all done, the feeling of release and accomplishment was amazing!
I suppose that’s what it must be like to be a cat on the hunt for prey. You mentally prepare for hours, then once you see your target, you pounce! You then have that victorious feeling of capturing your victim, and when all it’s all done, you’re rewarded with a wonderful nap for all your hard work and effort!

Now that the taxes are done, off to whatever. Like surfing the internet to look at pictures of cats…or puppies… or shoes…
Purrs everyone! Hope you all have a great day – and who knew cats could serve as inspiration for getting taxes done?!!
I got behind on my accounting and now I can’t seem to balance my account. I spent hours and hours and I am still off. And that’s just one account. I have another one to fix and my wife is impatient waiting for the numbers.
Oh my, that isn’t at all fun. But strange how a simple change of mind set can make things fly by–like the dentist, but NOT the vet as they are always as bad as we think they will be. MOL

Great selfies. I agree that kitties aren’t much help with taxes. Ours are done we just need to file and pay up.
Have a purrfect Sunday Selfies. My best to your mom. ♥
Good for you, getting those taxes done! Hope you got that well-deserved nap at the end of it all. 🙂
Love you r”Connection between Cats and Taxes” post. Yeah, I think it’s the intensity we show over our task of taxes + the irreststible mouthwatering display of papers that attracts these cats and I honestly think they look forward to it every year. Interfering with taxes is a cats life-blood! LOL. Thanks for the laughs.
I wish we could claim them as dependents 🙂
Oh yes! Wouldn’t that be great!

Doing your taxes sounds wonderful, what with the exPURRt help you have (and I’m pretty sure no one ever had the overwhelming urge to cuddle and stroke their accountant!) — mine, on the other hand, are complicated, so during the year I file all the pertinent papers and then send them off to my CPA, secure in the knowledge that anything necessary will be handled by her. (And then I cuddle and stroke my cats.)
I’m leaving this minute to visit our CPA; I’ve made too many income tax errors in the past, time to hire a professional! LOL! I don’t want to get thrown into the hoosegow…
It is a good feeling when those pesky taxes are done–makes me lie awake at night thinking about them when they are not. The cats have the right perspective–it’s all just paper in the end!
