The Zee & Zoey Cats and Family

A Day in the Life of Callie the Calico

As some of you may or may not know, Callie the Calico is our resident neighborhood cat that has decided our house is her second home. When we first met her many months ago, she was primarily a pretty blur in the background of our side or back yard and was extremely timid and shy. Well, as you can see from this picture, Callie has relaxed significantly and has now claimed our house as hers, as she quite nonchalantly stretches her body for some morning sun on the walkway to our front door. She is very calm and content and all would appear well. What you don’t realize, is inside our house, all hell has broken lose as chaos and bedlam reigns. All seven of our cats – that would be fourteen front paws – are collectively scratching at the window glass, OVER AND OVER, franticly trying to dig a tunnel to outside to get at her. Callie is a brilliant mastermind as she deliberately taunts them each and every morning, knowing full well they cannot get to her, before she moves on to phase two of her day. The side yard. Happy 3rd Birthday to My Beautiful Zoey ♥ ♥ ♥

The incredibly gorgeous Miss Zoey… clearly she is aging with stunning grace,  beauty, and style…

It’s no secret in our house that Zoey is the cat love of my life. Besides her obvious physical beauty, Zoey is a highly intelligent, very special girl who means more to me than I could possibly express in words. Yes, she can be a bit moody. And yes, she has a very strong opinion about everything. She growls more than she purrs and can give you a look that will freeze you in your tracks. She also has a less than endearing habit of mowiling (a combination of meowing and yowling at the same time) very early in the morning for me to wake up BEFORE my alarm goes off. Despite all that, she really is a sweetheart and an absolute treasure. When she loves you, she really LOVES you and the volume of her purring then, can shake the house! She has the most adorable prance and when she gaits into a room, her whole little petite body radiates with pure energy and joy. She is my blessing and I adore her, quirks and all, with all of my heart and soul.

On behalf of myself, Zee, her beloved cat companion and father of her children, Mia, Peanut, Rolz, and Zeuss, as well as Dan, my counterpart and her human Papa, along with her other feline housemates – Jazz and Harley, we salute you and wish you A VERY HAPPY 3RD BIRITHDAY!!! We all love you so much and we look forward to wising you many more birthdays with us ♥  ♥ ♥

The Amazing Weekend

Hi Everybody!!! It’s me, Peanut! I hope you all had a great weekend, cuz boy I sure did! It was so amazing that I just had to share it with you! I really like weekends no matter what happens – both my humans are home together and sometimes they have coffee in the morning and take Papa Zee, Mama Zoey, my sister Mia, my brother Rolz, and Jazz and Harley out in the fenced back yard for some exploring time. Recapturing my Youth

I don’t know exactly when it happened. Maybe it’s the magic “Five-O” age, maybe it’s because I am going to a baby shower this weekend for my dear friend Madalina who is old enough to be my daughter, who is now having daughter’s of her own (she’s expecting twins), but I have been feeling a bit out of sorts lately coming to grips with the fact that I am no longer young. Wrinkles, sagging, aches, and pains… I have them all and despite all the miracle claims the commercials on TV make, there is no product in the world that makes all that magically disappear! So, rather than a long post bemoaning my fate, I felt nostalgic for some youth and thought I would just simply post a picture of one of Zee and Zoey’s kittens that was taken at 6 weeks of age – besides newborn babies, there is absolutely nothing more precious in the world than a sweet little kitten! I know this picture gave me my smile for the day and I hope it brightens your day as well! As far as who this kitten is… well… your guess is as good as mine! We found it virtually impossible to figure out who was who at this age, so this picture is either of Mia, Peanut, Rolz, or Zeuss!

This Isn’t a Salad Bar, You Know…

Rolz preparing to do some indoor salad bar grazing...

I don’t know about your house, but in ours, nothing is off limits and everything is an open invitation to our cats. An invitation to what you may ask? Well, for starters, unlimited physical destruction and incomprehensible behavior. Put a rug on the floor, it will either be shredded by claws or christened by pee. Buy a new leather chair, it will look like a yard sale giveaway by the end of the week. Attempt to decorate bookcases, shelves, and fireplace mantles… fine, if you’re willing to clean up the broken pieces an hour later.

Then, of course, there is the all you can eat salad bar. What? A salad bar in the house? Yes  – every fake fern, ficus plant, and floral arrangement we have placed about the house is fodder for our cats as delicious morsels of food to be ingested. Why cats, why? We yell at you to stop the indoor grazing, but all you do is ignore us to blissfully continue with the chewing, only to throw up these slimy pieces of fake greenery later on, on the rug you’ve already peed on. By now, isn’t it apparent that you are not really chewing on grass and that the plants you are eating are not real? Sigh…

You know me, I adore you and find you to be an extremely intelligent species of which I am overly compulsive about and completely addicted to. But, I’m sorry to say, the salad bar syndrome…. well, please forgive me, but it’s something a dog would do…

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Hope you enjoyed our “green” post today!
