Coping With Pet Loss and Grief: Purr Prints of the Heart – A Cat’s Tale of Life, Death, and Beyond by Deborah Barnes

PurrPrints-ePub

A concept that began as a rough draft around October of 2013 officially becomes a book about a year and a half later…

In the roller coaster journey of writing Purr Prints of the Heart – A Cat’s Tale of Life, Death, and Beyond, a meow-memoir written in the voice of my dearly departed Ragdoll cat, Mr. Jazz, who I had to help cross over the Bridge on August 28, 2013, after 15 years of life, it turns out writing the book was the easy part. In the world of self-publishing where the landscape changes quicker than what is the most current iPhone available, it is a convoluted, painstakingly arduous ordeal that is not for the weak of heart. Extraordinary Behavior – Does Your Cat Have a Sixth Sense?

six-senseThere is no doubt that cats experience the five senses – sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste in a much more heightened level than humans do. Using every part of their body to communicate and survive – eyes, ears, whiskers, mouth, nose, tail, and paws, they navigate through life with incredible prowess and skill. I believe as well they have a sixth sense that enables them to be intuitive above and beyond those senses, giving them a complex level of understanding far beyond what appears on the surface. Global Pet Expo 2014 – Happy Endings and New Beginnings

logo-gpeI have to admit I was not sure I would be going to the Global Pet Expo in Orlando until the last minute. Seeing Mr. Jazz in spirit form in the doorway of my office last week, my draw to feral cat advocacy, and my ultimately deciding to go to the expo, but this time with Dan rather than on my own… there was to be a significant connection to it all. Is a Picture Really Worth a Thousand Words?

Fireworks are awesome… in theory…

Dan and I are homebodies by nature and I can’t remember the last time I got in a car to drive and see a professional display for the 4th of July. Sure, when the kids were living with me, we made the trek to wherever the nearest event was, but that was a long time ago.

So, embarking on a new theme for us in what we call “getting out of the house more,” Dan and I decided it would be fun to drive to the beach to see the display at the Pompano Pier (Fort Lauderdale area) and take some pictures.  We knew we would have to leave around 6:00pm to get some dinner and find parking, but due to an ironic joke on me, we were running late because of one of the cats… Read more

Crocheting with my beautiful Zoey on my outstretched legs

If there is any one more beloved in the cat blogosphere than Mr. Puddy, I would be quite surprised. I do not think there is a single person in my circle of human and feline friends who does not know who this handsome tuxedo kitty is. So, when I stopped by his blog the other day, I was quite taken aback and moved by the very courageous and honest post he did about his human Mom and her addiction to the computer that was affecting him adversely.
