For Cats, Everyday is the Lazy Day of Summer!

Rolz-(3)

Rolz takes the lead – it’s summer – let the lazy days begin!

When it comes to cats, let’s face it, they have the market cornered on lazy. With their ability to nap for approximately 16 hours a day, we may as well give the trademark to them. But with summer officially here and the extra rays of sunshine that goes along with it, for my cats, the nap to sun quotient becomes even higher! Read more

Way Back Wordless Wednesday – Young Cats Edition

Last week for Wordless Wednesday, I shared a retrospective of the Zee/Zoey gang as they are now – my grown up, feline family! For today’s Wordless Wednesday, I thought I’d go in the opposite direction and share an image of each of them in their younger days!! Wow… time sure does fly! Enjoy and have a great rest of your week!

Zee-10

Zee back in 2010. While he is older now, some things never change – he loved lounging on the counter then and he loves it now!

Zoey-Kitten-7

This was Zoey back in 2008 – it’s hard to believe she was a mama less than a year after that! Just look at that precious face – it’s no wonder I fell in love with her the second I laid eyes on her!

Rolz-with-Bday-card

Even as a youngster, Rolz has always looked mature for his age. Seen here he is celebrating his first birthday with a card sent to him from his brother, Zeuss, who lives in Boston.

Mia-on-cage

Mia has always looked like a pretty princess. Here she is at 5 months of age.

Mia-on-panther-2

Peanut has a look of terror in her eyes as she sits atop this fake, life-size panther we have in our dining room (doesn’t everyone have a life-size panther in their dining room?) She is a little over a year in this picture and perhaps the terror stems from the fact she might think it is a real panther!

Kizmet--First-Vet

This was Kizmet in November of 2013 – he was about four months old when I resuced him and this was him at the vet’s office for a checkup to make sure he was healthy before I introduced him to the rest of the cats.

JazmineExploring

This was Jazmine last March when she was about four months old. This was the first time she ventured out of the bedroom we had her staying in so that we could slowly introduce her to the rest of the feline household. Suffice it to say she has ruled the roost ever since…

Close-Up Cats for Wordless Wednesday

I thought as we all try to play catch-up from the craziness of the holidays and settle into the routine of the New Year, it would be nice just to take a mid-week break by doing nothing but looking at beautiful kitties for a moment. To help in that regard, I have selected a picture of each of my darling cats. All of these are recent photos that Dan has taken within the past couple of months and it’s just amazing how big they’ve all gotten…

8-8-14Zee

The King of the Castle… our handsome Zee.

Zoey-14

And his beautiful Queen… the always stunning Zoey.

mia

Wide-eyed Mia.

peanut

Sweet and loving Peanut.

Handsome Rolz.

A regal Kizmet.

jazmine

Our gorgeous Jazmine – while she is a big girl, she’s not nearly as wide as the photo would suggest… it’s just the angle of the camera!

I hope you enjoyed the pictures – I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite, they are all so beautiful! Have a great day and wonderful rest of the week!

Sometimes With Cats, Love Hurts…

my-gang

Just look at these sweet faces!! These are my seven furbabies and I love them with all my heart even though sometimes it can hurt!

I obviously love my kitties my than words could possibly convey, but I gotta admit that sometimes loving them hurts. Such as when Peanut makes biscuits on my belly – sometimes she does it with such vigor that it nearly draws blood with her sharp claws and it rearranges my innards to the point I hear all kinds of weird gurgling noises coming from my stomach.

Or those times that one of the cats will use my head as a launching pad when I am  innocently sitting on the couch… this too can draw blood, or at the very least scare the heck out of me. And then, of course, the numerous times I fall as a result of tripping over one of them as they wind around my legs as I try to walk or the times I trip over a toy on the floor…

But there is no love more painful than that of trying to show someone(or somecat as the case may be) just how much you love them… Check it out to see what I mean… Read more

A Guest Post From Jackie – Cat Land Adventures With the Zee and Zoey Gang!

6-Jackie

The lovely Jackie…

Editors Note: As you know, my beautiful 15 year old step-daughter, Jackie, has been visiting us for the summer. She has already been with us for two weeks and we are blessed to have her company for another two before she has to head back home to Boston. While it’s been wonderful having her around, not all is fun and games… I decided I may as well put her to work while she is here and take advantage of her many talents, one of which includes writing! That’s right… why should I write a Caturday post when I can get someone else to do it for me!! So, without further ado, please enjoy Jackie’s take on what it is like visiting the Zee and Zoey household! I love her perspective on my feline gang and I think you will as well! Read more
