With Blog Paws only a couple of weeks away, it naturally got me to thinking of all things, blogging, which led me to the realization after self-analysis of the top basic rules to follow when creating a good blog post, that I was mediocre at best and needed to give myself the “Imperfect Blogger Award.” Or, if you prefer, “The Flawed Blogger Award,” or “The Blogger who Just Can’t Conform to the Golden Rules of Blogging Award,” or just simply, “The Bad Blogger Award.” Read more

Wow –it’s hard to believe a whole year has gone by and it’s National Hairball Awareness Day again. I’ve barely recovered from last year’s extravaganza and now here we go again, I’m my brushing the fur of my eight cats with a FURminator deShedding tool and collecting it to glue it onto a piece of cardboard shaped like a handlebar mustache to make light of a very serious problem – hairballs. That’s right, the folks at FURminator have come up with yet another fun way to spread awareness about what a hairball is and how we can help prevent our cats from getting them by asking us cat bloggers to take a picture of our cat(s) wearing a mustache made out of their own fur… This isn’t weird at all, right? Of course not, all of my friends are cat lovers or bloggers, so to us, this is all perfectly normal and just another day in the life in the cat blogosphere. Read more

While I clearly love cats and they have always been a part of my life, when I was growing up I also was surrounded by an assortment of dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and more. These were not just animals to me, but beloved family members that were an important part of my heart and soul. Not only did they teach me to be a more responsible person, but they also brought out my tender, caring, and nurturing side and as the years have gone by and I am long grown up, I remain a devoted animal lover who could never imagine a day without them in my life. So when I found out today was National Kids and Pet Day, it really spoke to me as someone who deeply understands how important and treasured the relationship between a child and a pet can be. Hi All! I have an interesting favor to ask of you today if I might. As you know, one of my main missions with Zee and Zoey’s blog is to spread the message of cat responsibility to a larger audience outside of my cat circle of friends and peers which is no easy task. Trying to widen my reach and meet new people outside of my genre, I happened upon a wonderful blog the other day that is called “Searching for the Happiness.” The author, Wendy McCance, writes with a reflective and thought provoking style that really caught my attention and I find that it is nice to sometimes frequent blogs that are not exclusively cat related.
