Red Light, Green Light – Cats, Books, and the Internet

It’s amazing how much trouble one little red dot can cause…

Last Friday at 3:54 p.m. while I was at work, I got a text from Dan informing me we had no internet, as someone had accidentally cut the cable wires in our neighborhood. He was told by AT&T, our provider, it would be fixed by 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rather than get upset over something out of our control, I just took it with a grain of salt and resigned myself to a night of cable TV, as AT&T is our streaming provider and continuing to binge watch our new series of choice, Justified, would not be an option. Cat Writers’ Association Certificate of Excellence Winners and How to Win a Free Ticket to the 2018 Conference!

The CWA conference will be June 7 -9 this year and will be held at the Hyatt Regency North Houston.

I sound like a broken record lately – between the issue with my eye and other things, it’s been one physical ailment after another, most recently a nasty flu bug that had me bed-ridden for a couple days. Makin’ News! Makin’ Biscuits Receives Three Prestigious Writing Awards from the Cat Writers Association!

No mistaking whose suitcase this is…

It started off a rather harried and frustrating day, considering I was getting ready to leave for a decidedly fun and hyped-up event – my annual trip to the BlogPaws/Cat Writers’ Association (CWA) conference being held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I went to zip up my leopard print suitcase before weighing it to see if I could meet the ridiculously low-weight standard mandated by Spirit Airlines of 40 pounds for a checked bag (40 pounds? Unbranded and Loving it – A Grateful Cat Lady!

unbranded

No leopard. No cat ears. Just me in all my unbranded glory. Reflecting (and sweating) in the hot Florida sun about all I’m blessed for in my life.

Finally settled in after my hectic trip to Arizona a couple weeks ago for the BlogPaws/Cat Writers’ Association Conference, I received a phone call from fellow CWA member, Dusty Rainbolt. She had been a past president of the organization at one point, and I was now officially Vice-President, and she wanted to talk to me about my upcoming book project that she’s going to be a part of. Sounds impressive, huh? Read more

Gratitude for BlogPaws and the Cat Writers’ Association

Highlights from the 2016 BlogPaws / Cat Writers' Association Conference in Phoenix, AZ at the Sheraton Grand Wild Horse Pass Resort and SpaGratitude. That’s the only way I can adequately describe what I felt during my days at the BlogPaws/Cat Writers’ Association conference held at the gorgeous and tranquil Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass Spa and Resort in Phoenix last weekend. It was an odd dichotomy—both calming and spiritually nurturing, based on the Native American roots of the hotel—and typically hectic as a result of the whirlwind of events jammed into a 3-day time frame. Being an ambassador for BlogPaws also elevated the interactive notch to extremes my normally introverted self wouldn’t pursue. I’m the kind of cat that has to hide under the bed a bit before she warms up to company, but that’s okay. Pushing the personal envelope isn’t always a bad thing. Read more
