April Showers …
… bring May flowers. Being a fan of flowers (and the bees that hide in them) I like this rhyme. In theory. In reality, I hate it. I hate rain. Rainy days mean that I have to stay in all day, since the humans don’t like to get wet. Without them, I can’t go outside. Rain also ruins the view from my loft. On sunny days there’s plenty of things to look at through every window in the house, like squirrels and birds, but rain seems to prevent these creatures from venturing out. Granted, the birds will be back in droves when the rain stops, but until then BLAH! Maybe I should have titled this blog “Rain Rain Go Away…” and left the second line off. Don’t bother coming back!
Since it’s been raining for a few days, I’ve had to have my fun indoors. My humans are great about playing with me and keeping me entertained, so I really have little to complain about. We play with boxes, lasers, golf and ping-pong balls, a tennis ball, plastic strips, fake mice… you get the idea. Sometimes we wrestle. I love my humans, and my toys, and I love playing with humans and toys at the same time. Nonetheless, sometimes I like to strike out on my own and do my own thing.
I think exercise is fun. Running around the house at top speed keeps me very fit. Many of our floors have rugs, and I can run VERY fast on rugs. Sometimes, though, I don’t feel like running with all four of my legs. Sometimes I like to run with only my front legs, while my back legs take it easy. I’ve found a few different ways to accomplish this:
I don’t always have fun on my mind. Often I try to improve myself in an area that I feel needs improving. Some days I’ll practice my writing, for instance. (How do you think I got so good at this?) Recently, I’ve been working on improving my balance. Being a cat, I’m blessed with a strong foundation when it comes to balance, but one can always improve. Here I am, improving:
Shout out to Peanut! Great blog, you’re a hard act to follow!
Thanks for reading!

Hey, it’s raining outside today where we are too! We love your ideas for exercise! What clever ideas to stay fit when you can’t go outside. We loved watching the moving pictures of you working out. We’ll have to try them too, but we don’t know if we can do it as good as you!
Hi Sele and Miss Bella! Thank you for taking the time to comment on Zeuss’s post… he has always been quite the clever and industrious cat! It’s funny – Zeuss lives up in the Boston area now and his siblings have stayed with me in Florida – yet they all have his habit of scratching over and over like a bunch of lunatics! I just went to visit you at your website – how delightfully be-witching! I love it and will be sure to visit you often! I think you can tell from the enchanting design of Zee and Zoey’s blog, that you are just up our alley!!!
Thanks for stopping by – great meeting you!
Regards, Deb
the first video totally cracked me up because Cody does the same thing! he does it to the patio door though. I have NO idea why!
Look at those laser eyes in the last video! Hilarious!!
Mia does it too – she digs at the dining room windows over and over and over and over as if somehow, by doing it, she will dig a secret tunnel to outside! Zeuss always has laser eyes – I often think he could land planes with those eyes!
Thanks for sharing the info on Little Miss BG, I appreciate it! You’ve got a nice blog, I’m snooping around. Those videos were good, especially the exercising…that’s me fur sure!
You are quite welcome – we like your blog as well and are always happy to lend a paw when we can. That video is of our son, Zeuss, who is a regular guest blogger for us when human Mom needs a break! 🙂
I enjoyed the videos. I wonder if Zeuss was pawing at his reflection or shadow. He has great laser eyes.
Karen Jo -we don’t know what causes Zeuss to tick, but speaking of laser’s, he sure does love to play laser dot!!!
