A Guest Post From Jackie – Cat Land Adventures With the Zee and Zoey Gang!

6-Jackie

The lovely Jackie…

Editors Note: As you know, my beautiful 15 year old step-daughter, Jackie, has been visiting us for the summer. She has already been with us for two weeks and we are blessed to have her company for another two before she has to head back home to Boston. While it’s been wonderful having her around, not all is fun and games… I decided I may as well put her to work while she is here and take advantage of her many talents, one of which includes writing! That’s right… why should I write a Caturday post when I can get someone else to do it for me!! So, without further ado, please enjoy Jackie’s take on what it is like visiting the Zee and Zoey household! I love her perspective on my feline gang and I think you will as well!

Caturday with the Zee and Zoey kitties as told by Jackie

Ahh… What a wonderful two weeks it has been since entering the home of Zee and Zoey, or should I say Dad and Deb. No, this is the kitties house, and the guests happen to be the humans haha. As this is a guest post.. I should probably talk about all the kitties and the cat fur I get all over me, or how my allergies are always acting up (even though I have a cat at home! His name is Pussidon).  But my main focus today is on the lovely Jazmine, Kizmet, and Rolz.  They are the babies of the house and the main focus of my post this morning. Well Rolz isn’t one of the babies anymore, but he is still lovely!

1-KizRolzJazmine

No surprise – Jazmine, Kizmet, and Rolz are all hanging out in my room… This was before I came to visit and had to kick them out!

I have a few short stories to tell you guys of the cat world. So lets start from that first night. I flew in and got to the house around midnight that night, craving a roast beef sandwich after a tedious three-hour flight next to an annoying couple. So I go to make my sandwich… and I meet the one and only, Jazmine. I thought she was just a sweet kitten wanting some attention but was I wrong. All she wanted was some of my roast beef! I’ve never had a cat eat out of my hand before, let alone even want table scraps. My cat won’t even go near human food.

There is no doubt Jazmine is addicted to food, but at least she is willing to share if anyone cares to eat a fake mouse… Thank you Jazmine!

5-bugwater

Who doesn’t want a bug in their drink? Jazmine is such a thoughtful and considerate cat!

That night, I realized how similar to a dog Jazmine really is. She plays fetch like a dog would! When you take one of her toys and say “Ready Jazmine?” then throw it, she runs and follows the toy with her eyes, grabs it and trots back to you with it and drops it in front of you wanting to continue the game. She is really the cutest cat ever! The next day I was having a turkey sandwich and Jazmine jumped onto the breakfast bar and took a bite right from the sandwich as I was taking a bite… She is so daring! But how could you say no to that sweet face? After she took the bite she ran away and a few short minutes later she jumps up and drops something in my drink.. What was it? Some type of fly or mosquito. Thank you for the “lovely” gift Jazmine!

Another thing Jazmine did that stuck out to me was how she jumped on the table while Deb and I were doing a 1000 piece puzzle of a leopard and Jazmine took a bunch of pieces and ran off with them and chewed them! How are we ever going to finish now?!?

7-Puzzling

Getting some help putting our puzzle together from Rolz, Jazmine, and Mia. We found one puzzle piece on the couch this morning, so how many pieces are already missing should be interesting to find out!

You all know Kizmet in his royal glory, him and Jazmine are the best of friends. As my dad says, “two peas in a pod”. Kizmet is a very playful cat and he loves his silver-purple sparkly ball. Out of all the toys he can play with he chooses this little beaten up ball! One morning he jumped on the couch with me and he threw the ball at me (literally). So I threw it up in the air and he caught it with his bear paws and gave it back to me! I thought that was fascinating because all my cat does is sleep on the couch and get up to eat or scratch me haha… Kizmet kept giving me the ball back until he eventually lost it under the couch. Some times he is just too cute to handle!

We had to move the couch… again… because Kizmet needed help finding his favorite sparkly ball!

My true buddy in the house is Rolz. He is always sitting outside of my room (I don’t let the cats in my room since I’m allergic to cats – we always clean the room top to bottom when I get here) and he meows very loud. I think he misses the window in my room that lets in a lot of sunshine and is their view of the front yard with all the squirrels! I actually let him in my room for about 5 minutes and he went straight to the window after exploring my mess of a room.

3-Rolz

Yeah… thinks Rolz… I do love Jackie, but I sure do miss my squirrels. Maybe if I meow even louder she will let me in!

But Rolz is so funny, he follows me around sometimes and just meows nonstop so I figure he wants to be petted. he has the most ticklish back ever! When I pet him he dips down to the ground. When he is in the mood to be petted he lifts himself high off the ground and rubs his adorable face on my arm. I wish I could take him home with me.

It is Always so enjoyable to visit the feline family in Florida! How can you say no to a piece of paradise surrounded by seven adorable faces?

Sweet post. You caught their personalities do well! We had a foster Wingnut who would fetch balls for hours. We would tire before him.

  11. Hello Jackie!
Welcome back to South Florida. Loved your post!
I see your learning photography from your dad and developing your writing skills. You have the best of both Dad and Deb!

What an adventure you are enjoying indoors in Zee Zoey kittyland. Our kitties love human food too and eat from hand, spoon (ice cream).

My one cat Helio must dip his paw into ALL my food to taste test. If he wants more, his nose and mouth dive in for more.

Looking forward to your next chapter!

  12. Jackie, you’re a ray of needed sunshine and hope you write more. Darn that you’re allergic. How do mange it back home?

Sounds like a good time is being had by all, humans and cats. Good kitties for stealing those pieces of the puzzle. Isn’t that what they are for, to be stolen. Hope all of you have a wonderful Saturday.

  15. Penny Owen says:

What a lovely post Jackie, do write some more! I’ve served two cats who fetched. They both liked screwed up paper best. One of the cats whom I serve now, Simba, loves to play with toilet paper middles and will sometimes bat one towards, then I bat it back, then he… Well, you get the picture! 🙂

  16. Great post ! It looks like you enjoyed a lot your stay with 7 cats ! We love reading your post ! Purrs

  17. Hmmm, we’ll have to try the bug in Jan’s drink. But the missing puzzle pieces? She used to be a big jigsaw puzzle fan and had many pieces stolen over the years. 🙂

    Good guest post.

  18. Cathy Keisha says:

Another writer in the family! Pawsome! TW gave up doing jigsaw puzzles when she brought cats into the house. Faith used to run off with Gramma’s pieces too. TW also gave up crocheting. And, oh yeah, she gave up her spare time.

  19. Sounds like you are enjoying your stay 🙂
Thanks for sharing your stay and giving Deb a day off 😀

  20. wonderful post and very well written! i think we all would love to spend some “in purrson” time with the kitties of Zee & Zoey’s family.
