Wordless Wednesday – An Extraordinary Moment Captured in Time…

Sometimes one is invited into the rare and compelling world of an animal caught in their natural habitat, completely unaware they are being watched. I happened upon a chance like this one day and had to grab the camera to capture this stunning creature, much like a photographer for National Geographic would do, if the occasion so presented itself.

You will notice with the advancement of technology, how I was able to capture the visual surroundings and transcribe the exhilarating feeling of the moment with the high speed of the lens shutter. Each image is more amazing than the next and you can just feel the energy of this amazing creature burst off your computer screen. For your sense of time and to see just how incredible this camera is, I have documented the snapshots in real time. I truly think I deserve some sort of award for this rare and extraordinary post!

Sunday, June 26, 2011. 9:46 a.m. The creature is discovered, apparently sleeping atop some sort of domesticated wicker hamper with a padded towel for maximum napping comfort

Sunday, June 26, 2011. 10:14 a.m. The imagery and range of motion is stunning!

Sunday, June 26, 2011. 12:34 p.m. I don't know about you all, but I feel I could faint from the excitement!

Sunday, June 26, 2011. 2:14 p.m. The animal awakens, completely startled and a blur of motion as he rubs the sandman out of his eyes.

Sunday, June 26, 2011. 4:46 p.m. In what is a shocking and stunning turn of events, the creature has rotated itself to now nap in the opposite direction... this is just incredible people, simply incredible...

My special gratitude and acknowledgements to my beloved cat Zee. Turns out this was not some rare creature after all, but just my cat napping for 16 hours a day on the hamper like he does any other day….

Truly extraordinary! The suspense of scrolling from image to image just about did me in 😉 And the way you captured the exhaustion of the creature after rotating itself – simply stunning!

  2. It must have taken such stealth to capture such an elusive creature! Great photos!
    Cairn cuddles, Oz

    • Deb says:

You’re right Oz… it was a bit hairy for a moment. But, thankfully as the photographer, I was already familiar with the surroundings, what with it being my bathroom and all…. Plus I was wearing slippers at the time I spotted the creature…

  3. Sarah says:

Nice work, Deb! We all know sneaking up on a cat is no easy feat.

    • Deb says:

That sure is true Sarah…. but, with a little bit of luck and a lot of patience, sneaking up on a soundly napping cat without disturbing them, can be done! 🙂

  4. Vicky says:

Wow, you must have used a special high-speed film to catch all that action 😉

    • Deb says:

LOL Vicky – you seem to have a good eye for film quality and application – it was amazing how the camera responded so quickly to my needs, lest I miss a minute of this amazing occurrence!

Opie! What a fantastic reply!!! Zee will be very pleased to know you have deemed him a true professional! As soon as he wakes up from his nap later on, I will give him the good news!

  8. We’re late to the party! Too much napping. Clearly we should take notes from the expert!

    • Deb says:

LOL Layla… you’re never too late! But yes, clearly Zee is the wise, sage Buddha of all things nap related!!! The Zen of Zee!!!

    • Deb says:

LOL Caren…. I know, I know!!! But Zee begged me to post this on Wordless Wednesday… how could I possibly resist my sweet little Zee?

  11. I see you have a problem with the paparazzi stalking you too. Do you know that I cannot even (sleep in the) shower in peace? But, I think the pictorial is inspired. I must find ways to get more air time on mom’s blog this week… perhaps she’ll find your column inspirational!

P.S. The driving article was delightful – but I think I’d prefer to snooze.

    • Deb says:

LOL!!! Paparazzi indeed! Poor kitty barely got in his 16 full hours of nap time! Good luck with getting more air time – if you need more tips, just give me a holler – I have seven kitties who have the sleeping thing down pat!! Thanks for stopping by Create With Joy!
