When I Grow Up
I’ve decided to be a circus cat when I grow up. I can’t think of a more important or glamorous job that a cat could have, other than maybe being the star of one’s own comic strip. (Shout out to Garfield.) Keyboard Cat also has my respect. Can’t be easy to play keyboard without fingers.
After doing some research, I’ve learned that there are certain skills which are important for Circus Cats to develop. I’ve been practicing these skills daily, and I’m happy to announce that I’ve mastered them all!
Here I am perfecting my balancing act. Most people presume that cats are born with perfect balance, but that’s not the case. It takes lots of work to develop the ability to walk on windowsills, door tops, and box edges. The hardest part is figuring out the answer to “what do I do with my tail?” (The answer: nothing! It takes care of itself!)
Here I am climbing a tall rope board, and perching myself on top. I call this my bird imitation. I can also walk on my two hind legs (no video, sorry; you’ll have to trust me):
What else does a cat have to learn? I already knew how to jump, and was blessed with the “look” through genetics (thanks mom!). Now, all I have to do is wait until I’m old enough where I have to work, and it’s off to the circus!
(Editor: Zeuss has just been made aware that cats don’t have to work. Ever. Even when they grow up.)
P.S. It’s me, Zeuss again. On second thought, I think I’ll hold out for the comic strip. Might be a bit more up my alley!
Ohhhh my Zeuss!! I am sooo impressed! You are the PURRFECT Circus kitty! Your balancing act on the box was amazing…I love how you even balanced on the corners of the box!
How did you ever manage to sit on top of that rope board? You are sooo talented!
