Tour de Cats – Suitcase Edition

Today’s Tour de Cats for Wordless Wednesday is aptly dedicated to suitcases as I begin packing to go to the Cat Writers Conference in Irving, Texas where I will be this Thursday – Sunday. Sure, sometimes a suitcase can signify bad things to a cat because it means the human will be going out of town, but for a brief moment in time, it also means new things to explore and nap on and in! How about you kitties do you like suitcases to nap and hide in or do you just run away when you see one?

This photo is several years old as I was packing for a previous conference back when Jazz was still with me. I love it because no matter the age, a suitcase has the magical draw of a magnet to a cat – I am seen here with Jazz, Mia, and Peanut.

Zee, wide-eyed like an owl has joined in helping Peanut, Mia and I pack!

It’s hard to tell since she looks like one of my outfits, but Zoey has joined in the fun now!

Awww… so precious – Mia and Jazz snuggle in for a long and comfortable nap!

This is a current photo taken before I was getting ready to zip up the suitcase yesterday – seen here is Zoey and Mia… guess I will just have to bring them with me!

  1. Suitcases – better than nip! I love that you have a cat that matches your outfits. Have a great conference!

  2. Ms. Phoebe says:

Awwww they do blend in with mewz clothes! I love to sleep in suitcases too as long as it stays home and open. MOL!!

  3. Ingrid King says:

Have a wonderful time at the conference. I’ll miss seeing you!

  4. It’s so funny Deb, they just KNOW! When you bring out those nice big “boxes” someone will be leaving. Abby doesn’t get IN the suitcase (you know she’s a “odd” little cat), she starts pacing, from room to room, flopping on the floor to be petted. “Look at me, look at me….I’m so cute and sweet HOW could you leave me?”
They really do make it difficult to leave, don’t they? (especially if you have one still lingering in your suitcase).

LOVE the photos (especially the one with Mr. Jazz♥). Enjoy your conference. Updates please ; )

  5. Have a great time! The photos are fabulous!!!!!!!

  6. They know mom is leaving and want to make sure their scent is on the clothes and suitcase. Just to let other cats know. Who knows you may run in to a cat at the conference, on the plane ,in the airport, they want to make sure you are safe.
Have fun and can’t wait to hear about it!

  7. Cheysuli says:

I see you do own everything leopard print. No wonder they like it…

  8. mariodacat says:

Suitcases – Humph! I hate them I much prefer having my humans right here under my paw where I get the attention I need and demand.

  9. That’s exactly how my bed looks today, too: suitcase and cats! See you soon!

  10. meowmeowmans says:

    Such wonderful pictures. 🙂

Moosey always channels his “inner Angel Graphite” when the suitcase comes out. Graphite, my heart cat, would always climb into the suitcase when I was packing for a trip. I’m not sure if it meant, “I’m going with you,” or “Please don’t go.” Moosey is so much like him, personality-wise. 🙂

  11. da tabbies o trout towne says:

zoey…we just a bout dinna see ewe… gettin lost in de junglez oh leopards !!! hope yur mom haz safe travels, enjoys
N we will all bee rite over for a houz trashin partee….we haz de grill N fish…ewe get de pie N donuts !!

  12. Beau just got to assist with his first suitcase packing (not for CWA, sadly). The head peep tries to pack a day ahead of time so that we are less stressed before she leaves. But we always know anyhow!

  13. How nice you had some help with your packing! 😉 We like to help the mom when she packs. Mostly we like laying on her clothes in the suitcase.

  14. All of my cats want to climb into any suitcase they see. I’m not sure if they want to go with us or mark all of the clothes with a little cat fur. As I read your story I thought about a video I posted not long ago, it really fits. http://thrusquirreleyes.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-great-feather-war.html Be sure to close your suitcase when you get home.

    Have a great time.

  15. Andrea Dorn says:

The cats I have now have never seen a suitcase so who knows? But the show cats do know what that show bag is. Depending on the cat and their attitude toward the shows they can either be curious or run and hide!

My very best show cat, Baryshnikat, grew used to travelling and would sit in my suitcase like your cats. He’d look at me as if to say, “let’s go!”

  16. No need to buy a cat bed when you have a suit case! 🙂
