The Feline Quotable Photo Series – The Eyes are the Soul to a Cat’s Mind

This photo of Peanut is so glorious and hypnotizing that you cannot help but be mesmerized and transfixed to a time and place so deep, it is difficult to question the concept of a soul as French poet, Théophile Gautier suggests.  Please click photo to enlarge.

Jules Théophile Gautier (August 30, 1811 – October 23, 1872) was a French poet, dramatist, novelist, journalist, art critic and literary critic. (Wikipedia)

    Exquisite! It almost looks 3D.

  7. Peanut is so soulful. I love Théophile Gautier and have used a number of his quotes for my photo quote de jour.

    • Deb says:

Layla – I’m glad you enjoyed this quote – her eyes really spoke so deeply to me, that I knew it was the purr-fect picture to do Theophile justice!

  8. Debbie says:

Wow – what a great shot! And those eyes… how aptly captioned!

  9. meowmeowmans says:

  10. Small, the photo was mesmerizing and beautiful. But when I clicked to enlarge I was drawn right into the eyes like a magnet to metal. I felt like I could see Peanut’s soul. Does that sound weird?

    • Deb says:

No, Julia, that does not sound weird! That is why this quote so so perfect – when you look at the image in full scale, you are completely hypnotized and find yourself pulled deep inside Peanut, almost as if you could touch her and feel her very heartbeat. This is a very compelling photo and I am glad you appreciated it to its full extent…

  11. I love that Deb. Those eyes, indeed. One of the things I really enjoy about cats – compared to other animals which shall remain nameless- is that they can be really good at extended eye contact, complete with those slow blinks.
