Synchronicity – When a Small World Becomes Smaller
From previous posts, you already know I am a strong believer in karma and the synchronicity of past, present, and future in one’s life. As it is, we live the moments of our life in “real time” so that we don’t necessarily know or understand at the time, that one of these snapshots will someday become significant or have greater meaning down the road. Some call these greater connections fate, some call them destiny, and some don’t believe at all and just label them a “coincidence.” In our house, we are strong proponents of the mindset of the famous author, SQuire Rushnell, who calls these wonderful later-on connections a “godwink.” Meaning, that sometimes you just question life. You question your purpose. You don’t understand why life has to be so hard or teach us so many lessons. Then, out of nowhere, you get what you think is an odd coincidence and you kind of stand up and take notice. What’s happening is that you are actually getting a personal message, a wink so to speak, of reassurance from above to keep the faith and that everything will be all right. For me, that moment was Heat Cat 5, that cat that I was introduced to out of the blue, by a complete stranger, a US Army soldier stationed in Kuwait, who had me post the cat’s picture in my “Other People’s Cats” photo album I have on the blog.
As you may remember, Heat Cat was scheduled to come home any day now to his new residence somewhere in Massachusetts. In my previous brief emails with the soldier, I found out three things – one – that he had found me from someone else’s facebook page who had shared some of my posts, two – that we had something in common – I had been in the body armor business for over 15 years and during that time, our company had been providing armor to the Army – turns out he had worn one of the vests my company had produced. And three – that ironically – Dan was from Massachusetts and his three children currently live there (as well as Zeuss Catt). He and I both agreed what a small world it was and he told me he would keep me updated on his progress getting home with the cat. Well, several weeks had gone by and I had not heard anything. I had sent him a few emails and kept him in my mind, hoping he and the cat were okay, with no response…
So, again, out of the blue, I got a call one morning a few days ago from Dan – he was traveling on business – seems I need to rearrange my blog post schedule again, he said! Crystal (his daughter) had just sent him an email and he could not believe what he was reading! The text subject heading was this, “Synchronicity is FREAKING ME OUT.” What you need to know is this, Crystal had been going through some hard life lessons recently and was feeling a little blue and out of sorts, so this is the tone and gist of her email:
“Okay. So I’m weirded out now officially!!! Tonight [after having a rough night] I got to thinking I wasted all these years without any purpose. Kind of got away from the fact that sometimes we’re meant to live through things to learn a lesson… that everything is as the universe intends it to be. Soooooo…. I notice a photo album belonging to my friend Nick. He’s stationed in the Middle East right now. I grew up with him (You [Dan] got us tickets to Pantera). Well, I notice in his mobile uploads, he’s got a photo of a cat, an orange cat “Heat Cat5”. They’re HIS photos. I just sent him an email… I think his unit is the one communicating with Deb. Talk about a godwink, huh? Yup, again, heard LOUD AND CLEAR!!! lol. I’ll keep you posted. But it makes sense… cat is definitely with his unit if it’s coming to Massachusetts.”
Ok… Wow… I was completely blown away and had goose bumps by now. So, Crystal contacts Nick via email to see if he was indeed who she thought he was, which he was, and this was his response to Crystal:
“Ahahaha that’s awesome she is your step mom… That was an awesome show [Pantera]… I have been busy over here and have not been able to get back to her with details about the cat and stuff… Almost out of here though I think we r getting home Christmas morn…”
Crystal called me later that day to discuss all of these back and forth emails and we both got chills thinking about it. I don’t quite know what it all means yet, but I truly believe that a greater lesson is going to be learned and that somehow Heat Cat 5 and Nick will have some sort of significance in my life (and Crystal’s too). The pull and string of coincidences is just too amazing to be random. Small world smaller, ordinary to extraordinary indeed… Wink well received and accepted.
