There has been a lot of text and tag lines discussing “turning the ordinary into the extraordinary.” Just what does that mean and how does it pertain to not only Zee and Zoey and the Chronicles, but to anyone? It’s actually very simple for a cat and goes something like this:

A tiny, helpless, nondescript 1/8” bug walks across the floor. For a cat, in the blink of an eye, their day just changed from the merely ordinary to completely extraordinary as they go into a fascinated trance starring at this bug, occasionally swatting at it in swift, rapid paw movements and jumping back just as quick, in case the bug were actually able to defend itself against seven giant cats with fourteen collective probing eyes that have circled it. Or, someone puts a paper bag on the counter. Clearly, the cat is overwhelmed with the amazing opportunity to crawl inside it – even the surliest and aloof of cats can’t resist a good paper bag crawl! Open a drawer, a door, or a box and the same limitless possibility of adventure will occur. Nothing to a cat is ordinary to them – they revel in all the little moments that are unexpectedly put before them. Put yourself in the cat’s eyes as in the above photos – one minute they are innocently looking out the window, somewhat bored, and viola, the next minute, unbelievably their lives have changed in epic extraordinary proportions as a bird magically appears before them! Seriously! A bird! Can life get any better? I’m sure you all can think of your own “from ordinary to extraordinary” moments that you have with your cats – go ahead and try – I would love to hear your comments!

So, when I say, “embrace the ordinary in your life and dare to make it extraordinary,” I sincerely mean it – learn from our feline friends – wake up each day and welcome all that is in your life with a fresh outlook and perspective. We are all just so busy and stressed out that we just lose sight of all the simple joys and pleasures around us.
