Semi-Wordless Wednesday: A Cat’s Interpretation of Back to School Traffic

In the county where I live, the kids started school this week. It has only been 3 days of me driving to work and I am already too frazzled and exasperated to even discuss what the traffic has been like for me to deal with (hint: it was awful… it took me almost an hour to get to work, crawling at a speed of approximately 6 mph). Rather than exerting any more energy than necessary, I thought I’d let Jazmine express my feelings for me…

Thanks Jazmine – I feel much better already!

So how about where you are? Are the kids back in school yet or is it still summer vacation? Are you someone who has to drive in traffic or does back to school not affect you? Either way – have a great Wednesday all – for those of you that still are on summer vacation, enjoy the reminder of your time off and for those of you who have kids, or go to school yourself, be safe and remember that the weekend is just around the corner!

  1. Well, since I am not in the outside workforce it doesn’t affect me the way it did years ago, but it does if I am out during the “slow speed” school hours where cops are lying in wait to hand out tickets (happened to me about 4 years ago)

Some kids here go back Labor Day, some go back next week…….

But…Jazmine’s face is PURRFECT for the major road construction that is being done right down the street from us. It is the busiest intersection in the state and they are putting in a “round-about”…..tJazmine’s expression conveys purrfectly how everyone is feeling trying to cope with the traffic backup.

Here’s to free-flowing traffic at a great speed!
    xoxo

MOL Caren… I had always thought Jazmine would be the purrfect spokescat for a cat food brand or something cat related, but a sign for construction, that I had not thought of! But you are right, her expression perfectly conveys the frustration us drivers feel and I think all “WARNING – CONSTRUCTION AHEAD” signs should have her ACCKKK face!!

School starts later in Massachusetts, they still have a couple weeks off.

  3. da tabbies o trout towne says:

    between back to school, road construction, people who drive 95 in a 30 or 30 on the highway;
the ones who pull out two feet in front of you because they can’t wait 10 seconds for another car
to pass THEN DRIVE 4 MILES an hour, turn with out signal, run red lights, slam the brakes on in the middle of
no where…for nothing, drive side by side on the highway, apply make up, text, chat on the phone, eat food,
drink whatever, swerve into any one’s lane they want, drive looking to their side instead of straight ahead,
use no sense what so ever during winter driving conditions…I understand what jazmine’s saying though
my word would have begun with another letter of the alphabet…uh, it’s 6th in line

    🙂

    • Deb says:

da tabbies… oh yeah… you have hit a nerve and I can relate to EVERYTHING you have pointed out and then some!!! So yeah, the 6th letter of the alphabet in BOLD, UNDERLINE, AND CAPITAL LETTERS!!!!

  4. Mum is in the starting blocks (she’s a teacher) as the pupils are back to school on Monday, August 25. She’s printing, copying, cutting, pasting, sorting out, so her newbies (6 to 8 years old kids) feel good the first day ! She gets nuts when she hears that some moms come by car instead of walking 10 minutes in the village ! Jazmine translates purrfectly her opinion ! Purrs

  5. mariodacat says:

My peeps are retired, so no more driving to work. School will start here on Monday – yes, just in time to ruin a holiday weekend. When M did work tho, she was careful to go before the buses started running.

  6. Wow, they start early in your area! Ours don’t start until after Labor Day. The big yellow bus stops in front of our house to pick up the kids.. Zoey loves watching it.

  7. And she expresses it oh-so-very well!

    Purrs,
Nissy #Niss4Senate – tell the PM, today.

  8. School began here this week, too, and the big kids are just headed for their bus stop in the dark (in their dark clothes, not looking both ways before they cross the street… eek!) as I leave for work before dawn.

  9. meowmeowmans says:

I think it starts in our city next week … I feel your pain about the traffic!

  10. Well it doesn’t affect my commute to do tours but there is more traffic after 3pm while I’m still doing errands.

That’s why I used to put on makeup in the car to make use of time sitting at long traffic lights. Really. I can’t sit idle. I have to multitask always!

I get more traffic in winter season when there are more tourists. So school season doesn’t affect me much.
