Reality Check…

Left to Right - Crystal, myself, and Jackie enjoying a summer cruise on the Gulf of Mexico in Key West as we wait for the beautiful sunset to come.
My lazy days of wide brimmed straw hats with pretty bows, billowy sun dresses in carefree floral prints, sipping frozen margarita’s, and drifting down the Gulf of Mexico in a cruise boat as I watch the sun setting to a glorious canvas of hues too magnificent to describe are over.
I was blessed and spoiled enough to spend the last 10 days on vacation with Dan and my step-daughters, Crystal and Jackie, who came to stay with us from Boston, and even a couple days with my oldest son, Chris, who lives a few hours away from Orlando. Although I have lived in Florida since 1994, I have not taken a real vacation in years, so was completely thrilled to enjoy time at Sea World and Discovery Cove in Orlando, with them, then off a few days later to spend some time in Key West. The rest of the time – reading trashy novels by our pool and barbecuing on the grill…
Well, reality check…Monday is back, and with it is the responsibility of having a full-time day job, as well as my night time and weekend job of maintaining all my Zee/Zoey related stuff, such as the book and the blog. I have severely neglected all my cat blogging friends and have a lot of catch up posts to read. I have also neglected my secret facebook passion – Fairyland – and need to get back to tending my fake garden! The food pantry is bare – I literally have one can of cat food left and the house could use a good cleaning. The laundry is to the ceiling and my bills are patiently piling up on the counter, waiting for me to pay them!
So, I am trying to get myself back on track. My kitties are finally speaking to me after I abandoned them with a cat-sitter over the weekend and I am learning how to drive again – why is it that when you stop driving for a few days, it feels awkward when you get back behind the wheel? The laundry will get done – one load at a time – and the bills will eventually get paid. As long as I get to the store to get food for the cats, that’s really all that matters in the scheme of my life!!

Deb, so glad you had a well deserved vacay… ease back slowly to your routine: life is too short 🙂
Thanks Layla! Very wise advice…. I will try to step back a bit… it really has been too hectic lately!
Your photos were glorious and you look amazing! I do have one question, why wasn’t I invited? lol
Thanks Caren… that was before the sea-sickness kicked in!! The door is always open – the Keys are about 3 hours away – so, consider this an open invite for any time you want!!
Deb, I hope your batteries are recharged and you don’t get post vacation malaise. Such a debilitating condition! lol Looks like you had a terrific time!
We had a great time CATachresis! Florida is such a fantastic state to live in and it was wonderful to take advantage of all the great stuff around us!
I’m glad you got a break and that it was a real vacation. Sounds like you had a wonderful time.
I hope you heed Layla’s advice – except for the cat food, of course. That, as you well know, takes priority over everything else!
MOL Ingrid… that is one of the Top 10 Cat Commandments for sure… thou shall feed the cats above all else! 🙂
