Katris Covers for Modular Cat Scratching System – A Kickstarter Giveaway Designed for Fun and Function!

katris0183_1414609862_280 I rarely do product reviews (paid or not) for an item my cats have not personally tested out, as I don’t want to be misleading about something I am not familiar with. There are times, however, when I absolutely know my gang of seven will like something without even seeing it, allowing me to feel comfortable sharing information. That was the case when Katris – a company that makes eco-friendly, innovative, high quality block shapes that can be configured into a custom created modular cat scratching system  – reached out to me with the possibility of letting my readers know about a Kickstarter campaign that will start on August 17 to create special decorative covers to make the Katris blocks even more fun and fashionable.

With these 5 basic shapes – L, I, O, T, and Z – the sky’s the limit with what kinds of innovative and creative groupings you can come up with for you and your cat! Photo credit: Katris

Based on the concept, I knew my cats would love the blocks, just to sit on them alone. They come in 5 basic shapes – L, I, O, T, Z (each sold separately) and can be assembled into any number of configurations that are limited only by your imagination and the space you are putting it together for. A coffee table, a cat tree, a book shelf, a shoe  nook – whatever you want for you and your cat – with a bit of ingenuity and some basic clips that hold the blocks together, the possibilities are endless. Each block is made with a durable exterior that can easily be wiped down and the interior (the part the cats will love) is made from high grade 100% natural recyclable cardboard that is purr-fect for scratching! Each block is made from 200+ sheets of paper – almost double the amount of material other brand name cat scratchers use and depending on how vigorous a scratcher your cat is, each piece can last well over a year.

It’s a win for the humans and it’s a win for our cats. Functional furniture for us and a fun and healthy scratching option for our cats! And to reassure you of the quality and integrity of the product, I did a quick search to learn more about the modular system and found that several of my very trustworthy and esteemed blogging friends such as Kate Benjamin of hauspanther, Ingrid King of The Conscious Cat, Joanne McGonagle of The Tiniest Tiger, and Layla Morgan Wilde of Cat Wisdom 101 – all have done reviews in the past and all of them give the Katris modular system high kitty tested marks.

But here’s the best news of all – Katris has gone cover crazy and is introducing three new cover designs to make the already awesome modular blocks even more awesome! Imagine that – unlimited design configurations combined with the option of integrating fashion and functionality into the design scheme of your your own home!

  1. Jane Ritz says:

My cat would love this. She climbs the door facings. I would love the scratching post as much as she would. My computer chair is in shreds. Also, I love your page, The main page is beautiful. Thanks for the chance.

  2. Catherine Fleming says:

My cats can’t get enough of climbing and get so excited when something new comes in the house that they can climb on, the higher the better! Of course, they would argue over who gets to sit on the top of the Katris, but eventually they would all sit on it in their turn. Democracy at its best! I think I would like the wood covers and the L and O shapes the best. Thanks for the opportunity! >^..^<

  3. meowmeowmans says:

Our cats enjoy climbing, and like scratching cardboard surfaces. SO these would be a big hit, I’m sure! 🙂

  4. meowmeowmans says:

Oh, and we like the L and O shapes, in wood. 🙂

  5. Kitties Blue says:

We also like the O and the L or the O and the T in the city collection. Mom and Dad saw these at BlogPaws and loved them. We know we would love them as well. Hope we win! Thanks for a great review. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  6. Thanking tagging us. Our Katris has aged well and I think of the pieces more as furniture than cardboard. And versatile. I’d stacked a few pieces in our bathroom in anticipation of at our shelter rescue’s arrival. He’d been a climber at the shelter but sadly by the time he came home was very ill. After he died, the Katris window perch became a memorial altar. It’s still there. I can’t bring myself to dismantle it just yet. Eventually, the modular pieces will have a new life and purpose. Maybe having colored covers would help.

  7. Timmy Tomcat says:

We would love a chance at these neat climber, scratchers!

  8. Oh, we would LOVE these! They look like so much fun, and Lexy would have a ball scratching on them. We would love the O an L with a wood cover.

  9. Jonnie says:

My cat loves climbing so I think she would love the Z or O in wood

  10. A.J. says:

The cats have voted for the wood collection, letters O and L. Of course, they also voted for me to provide them with the other letters, so that each cat has a letter of his/her very own. Sneaky kitties.

  11. Heather W. says:

The O and the L would be lovely! I have two cats and am fostering a third, and these would be a godsend to help them alleviate the “new cat in the house” stress! 🙂

  12. Robin says:

I really like the City Collection covers! Color is fun. I think that we would want one of each shape so that we could play with different designs. My cats (Cinco and Manna) really enjoy having places to climb, play, and call their own. These blocks would be a lot of fun for the kitties!

  13. Oh what timing!

Would LOVE to have a Katris modular scratching system for when I begin redecorating and CATIFYING my condo. We have six cats!

We choose the L and O with black and white covers to match our living room with city view–these are downtown city rescue cats and deserve a chic scratching system.

    Thank you!
