Happy 3rd Birthday to Kizmet and Happy 4th of July to America!

kiz3

According to his adoption paperwork, our feline firecracker, Kizmet, was born July 4th, 2012. He was called “Logan” at the time, but I renamed him Kizmet, as in believing it to be fate that I found him at a Pet Supermarket that I normally didn’t shop in. I fell hopelessly in love with him the moment I set eyes on him in his cage back in November of 2012 and so did Dan after I texted a picture to him.

Kizmet back in November of 2012 – he does appear to to have the look of a trouble-maker in his eyes!

Ever since he set his sweet little paws into our house, he has been an absolute joy and burst of eccentric energy. Not one bound to convention, he quickly broke my rule that I have of slowly introducing a new cat to the residing cats by escaping out of his sequester room one evening, never to look back! He was such a whirlwind of confidence that I don’t think the other cats even had time to react. He basically said, “here I am, deal with it.” And with very little fuss or fur flying, they truly did deal with it quite well.

There was a brief moment when Kizmet’s exuberance was just too much for the resident cats. One quick lecture from Rolz and all was good…

Calm and peace is restored… good job, Rolz!

Kizmet remains a special cat and has an extremely intuitive nature. He is very sensitive to not only my moods and emotions, but that of the other cats as well. He stayed with me on the day I made the decision to help cross Jazz over the Rainbow Bridge, and when Harley died close to a year later, he mourned deeply for her, as did I. He was also the first cat to embrace Jazmine when we adopted her and he continues to be her best friend.

When Kizmet first met Jazmine, she was a bit rambunctious. Remembering how Rolz taught him to calm down, he did the same with Jazmine.

Present day – Kizmet and Jazmine still love each other… you can see that she still tries to test her boundaries with him… she’s wondering, should I steal his mouse or not?

Every night without fail, Kizmet wraps his paws around my head in a big hug. He then rests his head on mine, like a pillow. This habit started after Harley died – he just seemed to sense I needed his love and comfort.

Our handsome boy – this picture was taken a couple months before Kizmet turned 3.

Happy birthday buddy – you are such a wonderful cat! I wish you a day filled with love, treats, sunbeams, and more. And Happy Birthday America too! Stay safe everyone – keep your pets well protected – the weekend is sure to be a crazy one with nonstop fireworks…

  6. Kizmet sounds like a real sweetheart and reminds me of Carmine in some ways. Carmine wants to be everyone’s friend, and he, too, is incredibly sensitive to other people’s and cats’ needs.
