Going Bonkers Feline Style for March Madness and Daylight Saving Time!

Cats can act with an air of confidence when they are happy with their surroundings.

The world is more than a bit mad – that’s why I’m so grateful for my cats because they always inspire a sense of calm in the storm for me.

March Madness – that crazy time of year for the annual NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association)   college basketball tournament. I don’t watch basketball, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have our own brand of crazy madness around the house – just with kitties instead of basketball players. Check out these pictures to see what I mean.

Cats can get territorial about certain areas in the house for no reason!

Why Kizmet felt he was entitled to sit on that particular spot on the floor is beyond me… thank goodness Zoey straightened him out with her polite madness!

It's very easy for cats to establish patterns and rituals

For Peanut, once is enough to establish a permanent pattern. I did let her go out a couple of months ago (supervised) now she is obsessively crazed that it’s supposed to happen every time she stands by the door. It’s not…

Cats can get a crazy look when they see a dog.

Who let that dog in the house…. Has the whole house gone mad? (Kizmet reacting to my grand-dog, Rick, visiting).

Cats like to bring plush toys into the bedroom at night

Zee goes a bit crazy at night… these are some of the toys we will find on the bedroom floor in the morning that he has dragged in as a gift for us.

Cats can fall in love with one another

Jazmine is madly in love with Kizmet, she just has a rough way of showing it!

Even though cats are fed on a regular schedule, they act like they've never eaten before!

When it’s time for dinner, the cats swarm in a crazy circle waiting for the food dishes to hit the floor! It’s the height of madness in our house! Archive photo: 2014

cats like to make a mess with their toys

It looks like maybe the NCAA basketball players partied at our house… look at that mess!

Cats like to sleep together in small places

Mia would never get mad… she loves her Mama and Papa too much, but it would be nice if they scooched over just a bit for her to fit in!

Sometimes when cats first meet, they can react by hissing and growling!

There can be different levels of madness… This was Rolz reacting to Kizmet when they were first introduced to one another years ago and he was super mad! Thankfully the days of tension are long gone!

Cats put plush toys in dish to signal they want to be fed

It’s Angry Bird… kinda a given that he’s mad…it’s built into his plush DNA.

Cats like to sleep together for companionship

Perhaps the craziest of all are Dan and I. This is what our bed typically looks like… Rather than shoo the kitties off the bed at night, we just figure out a way to sleep around them! Archive photo 2010

So how about your place? After seeing my pictures, do you have any kitty madness you’d like to share?

Oh, and don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed tonight! Daylight Saving Time officially starts on Sunday, March 13 at 2:00 a.m.

Daylight Saving is a time to set the clocks ahead one hour.

Jazmine is giving you a friendly reminder to set your clocks ahead one hour for Daylight Saving Time! Yeah for an extra hour of sunshine after dinner!

M here: I love all your pictures. Even our house with 1 permanent kitty in residence and my daughter 2 cats in residence for 2 weeks, it’s been crazy here too – only just not on your scale. I’d like to know how you find room to sleep at night. I even find it difficult at times, although I haven’t had 3 in bed. Just two that like to hog the bed. Good to see you again. Wish my back would allow more sitting, so I could visit whenever you have a post.

    • Deb says:

Good to see you too M. I’m sorry you have back problems – I actually do too – always in such pain. Give Mario my love and I’m grateful for whenever you can stop by!

  2. Brian Frum says:

You are lucky to be surrounded by such beauty! Love those photos!!!

  3. Sue Brandes says:

Love seeing all your kitties. Enjoy your weekend.

  4. Flynn says:

Not much craziness going on here except yesterday. When I go to the bathroom, Flynn always accompanies me. Yesterday he was sleeping on the bed so I went in and shut the door behind me. He must have heard because when I opened it he came bouncing sideways at me like he used to when he was a kitten. It was wonderful to see and surely must mean he feels a bit better.

    • Deb says:

It’s amazing how well a cat can hear… I know exactly what you mean about Flynn… I think I’m alone, next thing I know, I’ve got a cat next to me! I’m so glad he’s feeling a bit better!

  5. I absolutely HATE Daylight Saving Time (do you know I actually learned yesterday that it’s “Saving” and not “Savings”?) I didn’t believe it when I read someone’s post and then I Googled it, it’s actually “saving!” That being said Jazmine cracks me up!

    • Deb says:

I just hate changing the clocks in general… but I really do like having it light longer! Thanks for the info on Saving… just made some changes…

What a gorgeous family you have! Your archival photos bring back happy memories of better days when our family was larger. Love your blog!

  7. Loved every one of these pictures. The one of Jazmine showing her love to Kizmet gave us a giggle. All those gifts, what a showing of love. It does kinda look like somebody partied at your place. Lastly we have a question…how do you find a way to get in your bed? lol Hugs and nose kisses

    • Deb says:

Hi Pooh and Her Pooch… glad you enjoyed the pictures! As far as how do we find a way to get into bed…it’s never easy!

  8. All those wonderful kitties keeping you safe through the night! It’s a beautiful thing.

  9. We always go a little “mad” with the change of the seasons. Spring is coming soon (we hope!) so the madness should start soon.

  10. Madness or mad-cap-ness? 🙂
We think the only TRUE madness we see is your reference to (ick) Daylight SAVINGS Time (MOL!)

  11. Ellen Pilch says:

How sweet that Zee brings you all those toys at night. My cats never bring me anything.

  12. meowmeowmans says:

We’re not big fans of losing an hour, but having some extra sunshine is nice. 🙂

Great pictures of your beautiful gang, as always.

    Hugs!
