Feline Quotable Photo Series – The Mad Catter

With each day that passes, our feline model Mia, becomes more and more like her wild Mama Zoey – her gait is unmistakably strong and confident, perfect to accompany this popular quote by Rosanne Amberson.

I try with each Feline Quotable Photo that I share with you, to include a bit of history on the author of the quote. Much as I tried, I could not find anything on Ms. Amberson, other than that she was the author of a couple pet books, including “Raising Your Cat a Complete Illustrated Guide,” that was first published in 1971 by Crown Publishers. I also managed to find this image of the hardcover book – whoever previously owned it sure did seem to refer to it often based on how dog-eared the cover is!

  3. Connie Marie says:

What a beautiful cat! I’ve heard as cats mature, their personaliy takes different twists.
So mow you’ll have 2 wild ones. How far is Zoey’s background removed from the wild?
Or is she just wild acting?
I like like picture of the book and the saying. My cats love book edges! I really have to watch out!

    • Deb says:

Connie Marie – cats do seem to mature differently, and that is definately the case with Mia. She grows more outgoing and confident each day. Her roots are not as wild as Zoey’s, as she is mix between a Maine Coon and a Bengal. Zoey is an F-4 Bengal, so she does have wild blood in her, but not to the extent of an F-1, which is the closest a domestic cat comes to wild.

Regardless, Zoey is very much my free-spirited wild child and I think that is why I adore her so much!

I loved the book cover – there is just something comforting and endearing about a well read and loved book!

Mia is a supermodel the way she slinks! I wonder why we say dog-eared? lol

  7. Bernadette says:

I love the little thread-like pupils in Mia’s eyes–her face is wonderfully intent, not paying any attention to you and your camera. But how interesting a major book on cat care and we don’t even know the author!

  11. What great eyes, Mia!

  12. Forgot WW! Love graceful Mia and this quote but I thought it was attributed to Rose Kennedy? Since doing photo quote de jours since 2008, I’ve been shocked repeatedly how often famous people call a quote their own when often the source goes back to Ancient Rome or Greece 🙂 I actually lost a bet recently over a quote, so convinced it was by Marcus Aurelius and it wasn’t.

    • Deb says:

Interesting comment, Layla! I honestly can’t say who the quote would be attributed to, as I do see that Rose Kennedy has also been associated with it. So, whether Rose Kennedy was quoting the woman who wrote a book about cats, or the other way around, I guess we’ll never really know!! There are only so many words in our world, so you have to wonder just how original anything is!! Either way, the premise of the qoute rings true and Mia is the purr-fect model!!

  13. We like this series of quotes about kitties and the history behind the person who said it.

  14. Such a nice quote… and gorgeous picture of Mia!
