Dreams of my Favorite Things – Cats, Coffee, Crocheting, Reading, and Writing

Reading a book with Rolz tucked on my lap…pure heaven to me.

There are vision boards using images, photos, text and more, designed to serve as a source of inspiration and the power of attraction to attain goals. In the movie Field of Dreams, Kevin Costner speaks the famously recognized phase, “If you build it, he will come.” Using that theory, I’m sharing some of my favorite pictures of me doing what I like to do best, reading, writing, crocheting, or just chillin’ on the couch with a cat or two by my side as I enjoy the peace and inner Zen it brings me.

It hasn’t even been a month, but the new year has already been too hectic for me. It’s not going to happen immediately, but I know I need to pull back, so I have some time just to relax, recharge, and breathe. What are some of your favorite things to do to center you and push the stress from your life away?

Reading with Jazmine and a slice of homemade banana bread. Yum!

My ultimate go-to happy place – me on the couch, covered in a blanket of cats!

Crocheting with Zoey sharing quiet time with me. So peaceful and relaxing…

A hug from Kizmet is always welcome

A cup of coffee with a cat? Jazmine is helping to make my dream come true!

Crocheting way back in 2009 when Mia, Peanut, and Rolz were just kittens.

This is our guest bedroom and it’s my favorite room in the house to just chill and relax while doing some writing.

Those are some great photos. You had a “c” thing going there for a while and then it fell apart with reading and writing. 🙂

What wonderful pastimes all. Of course they are made better with cat companions as is all of human life. Love your photos

Beautiful pix! Wish there were still a lot of cats in my furmily and that they would all curl up with me. My three curl up with me at night if it’s cool or cold. I’m hyper and not much of a relaxer, but curling up with them and eating a nice dinner while watching something good on TV is a favorite pastime; so is being in the midst of them and reading a little before sleeping.

  8. There’s nothing better than sitting with cats all around you. 🙂

I love sitting in the sun, much like my cats, and sharing a beam with the cats. A good cup of hot tea only makes it better.

Relaxing and unwinding with cats is one of our favorite pastimes, too. 🙂

I love to read, and I love a good cup of coffee. I also love to write with an espresso drink and a snack like a cookie, sitting back in a comfortable coffee-shop chair. That makes me think… it’s been way too long since I did that. Another thing I find relaxing is playing video games–no, not crazy shooters with lots of violence and explosions, but what they call in the gaming industry “casual games.” I have a membership with the Big Fish Games club, and I’ve downloaded lots of games from mystery adventures to “nonogram” puzzles where you’re given certain numbers of tiles of a certain color in each row and column and you use logic (and sometimes luck) to get everything correct and create an image. I find them contemplative and relaxing, and a great way to occupy my mind that keeps my creative thinking and intellectual skills sharp.

And cats, of course. I love to nap with my cats. 🙂

I do love to sit and crochet and listen to an audio book, and make sure I sit somewhere with lots of space around me because all my cats will eventually join me. I love to sit on my deck, winter or summer, with Mimi and a cup of coffee, but most of my relaxing activities are active. Working in my garden and yard, I can do it every day, any time of day, every day of the year, building, trimming, planning, admiring. Walking around my back yard, my neighborhood or town, or out on some trail photographing and sketching, within minutes of beginning my session, I’ve forgotten anything that’s troubling and center on my creative ideas that stretch beyond visual inspirations to writing and singing as I walk along. Of course, coming back home to my cats’ greetings is the purrfect end to the day. I am grateful that I have the places to visit and the time to take for these activities.

  14. You don’t show any photos of you eating a meal, with cats crouched around, hoping to join you! I am delighted when Da Boyz want a bit of what I’m having; sharing with them is fun.
