Caturday – The Being of Being a Cat…
I don’t know about you all, but I have always wanted to be a cat at one time or another and am always fascinated by this extraordinary creature. While it is impossible for us humans to be a cat, I think this video is as close as we can come to that experience and feeling. For our cats, they live for Saturday mornings… those blessed few minutes when we release them from the confines of our house, to the amazement of the great outdoors. Granted, the cats are completely supervised and the yard is safely enclosed with a tall and cat-proof fence, but they don’t know that…. To them, our backyard is the embodiment of what it means to instinctively be a cat. Just watch this video and you can literally feel every muscle, every step, and every move of these cats as they prowl in what they perceive as their natural habitat. It is truly spectacular to watch and I really hope you enjoy what we were able to capture and share with you! Kudos again to Dan for another production superbly done!!

we want more or longer videos…………..Love to hear those kids laughing…………….Phyllis
Glad you enjoy the videos Phyllis! I’m sure there will be plenty more in store for the Zee/Zoey gang! 🙂
Talk about their natural environment! It looks like you live in a jungle. A perfect backdrop for them. I just love the exit through the door with tails straight up quivering with eagerness and anticipation!
In their desire to explore, have any of them managed to leap the fence?
Love the video. Yes definitely kudos to Dan 🙂
Caro – our backyard IS a jungle, so that’s no exaggeration!! As far as fence jumping, not at this point – Mia has perched on top of it, but we got her down. They are aware something exists on the “other side,” but luckily they are easily distracted and quite content within their confines! Zoey, however, is a crafty young lady and she is on a harness at all times – no matter what she might tell you otherwise, she cannot be trusted! Glad you enjoyed the video – Dan definitely deserves the credit! xoxo
We loved seeing this but why only Saturday mornings? Kudos to Dan. We must get into videos. *groan* another skill to master.
Layla – sometimes it’s Saturday and Sundays, but becasue I work, we can’t take them out during the week. Since we have so many of them, they have to be supervised by Dan and I! Mornings are the ideal time – here in Florida, by 10:00 am, it is already too hot outside to bring the kitties outdoors – the pavers heat up quick and could hurt their little paw pads!! The cats will argue and tell you otherwise, but seeing them pant when it gets hot out, I know better! If anyone can master the skill of videography, it would be you Layla!
You know the ironic thing is is that Ichiro is too scared to go outside. They tried to take him on a harness as a kitten but he was terrified. I have no interest and Gemini likes it but she is so skittish that even being watched the Woman worries about her in the yard. So no yard cats for us! We like watching you guys though–and dreaming from our safe beds.
We understand Cheysuli – all cats are different. Our tortie, Harley, has no interest whatsoever and our eldest, Jazz, enjoys a quiet walk around the tiki deck, then he wants to go back in. The younger cats live for the moment, but as of recently, have wandered back into the house without any coaxing at all. I guess they are all maturing! Glad you are able to live though our minds eye for a brief few minutes from your safe beds! Trust me, if we lived anywhere but where we do, our human wouldn’t even dream of letting us out!
That is a terrific video and what a great yard to get to explore and play in. Mine would love that. Those are some mighty lucky cats.Love it when they come out the door and are very cautious of t he camera. That was fun to see.
Thanks Marg! Yes, these are some very blessed kitties indeed! They are quite used to a regular camera, but with a video, Dan has to keep himself and the camera low to the ground – it does tend to startle the cats when we do this, because it is still a new experience for them! Zee is the definition of the word “cautious” and I love that you saw that characteristic in him!!
What a neat video. Your cats appeared very curious about the spy-cam, and then they cut loose and enjoyed their surroundings. I bet they have all sorts of little lizards and bugs to chase there. Perfect entertainment for felines. Have a great weekend!!
Yes Kristin, once they realize the camera is no big deal, it’s off to a typical morning of chasing butterflies, lizards, and bugs!! Thanks for dropping by and you have a great weekend to!
That is a spectacular video. I think domesticated cats will always and forever keep a piece of “wild cat” ancestry in them. Yours have a wonderful place to explore.
Thanks Julia! It really is a kitty playground for them!! 🙂
That really was a fun video! We don’t go out at all, Dad says I’m a weeney, I have no interest, even when the door is open.
Oh Brian! That is so funny – we don’t think you’re a weeney! It’s a cats perogotive to show no interest in something – it’s part of our charm and intrigue!! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I love that video…. especially when that one kitty practically JUMPS! up that tree! woo woo!
I figured you would like that part Rumpy!! That was Rolz you were watching and he is getting very good at tree jumping!
How fun! For them and you! And what an awesome yard! I really enjoyed watching them blend into the foliage. Looks like Dan is having a great time with the video software too. Can’t wait to see the next one!
Thanks Bernadette – I remember (vaugely) when I used to have time to garden in that yard! Now, nature has kind of taken control of everything, so it certainly has that “wild” jungle feel that the cats love so much!! Dan is having a BLAST with the video software and has so many awesome videos in the works to share 🙂 🙂
Beautiful video! Your backyard looks like a jungle – kitty paradise!
Ingrid – I love the tag – Kitty Paradise!! Maybe I should open up little kitty paradise franchises where kitties can stay for a few days of R&R! (I would completely screen the enclosure, but they wouldn’t need to know that)! I will start working on the concept in my free time!!!
